Judge James Whittemore, the Clinton appointee federal judge who’s hearing the Schiavo case, decided to “sleep on it” but has come to a decision.
The Judge has denied the reinsertion of Terri Schiavo’s feeding tube but is “considering” other related issues, such as making sure none of Terri’s rights were violated– such as having a “husband” who wants her dead, claims she would want that, but has no proof of what Terri’s “wishes” are.
While the judge “ponders” these other things, Terri Schiavo will probably die.
Until this judge figures it all out, the equation should be reversed for a while. Deny this judge Doritos and Pepsi until he comes to final decisions. Chances are we’d be finished in time for Terri Schiavo to have lunch.
One final thought: With the scant “evidence” in hand as justification to kill Terri Schiavo, Judge Whittemore’s ruling should give fresh hope to murderers everywhere and force a reassessment of killers who are in prison for taking the life of somebody who probably wanted to die anyway.
I can hear the arguments now: “Your honor, yes, I took his life, but he was depressed because of the poor performance of his stock portfolio. It’s what he wanted. And, while I did shoot him in the head, technically, I didn’t kill him… I simply helped his brain fulfill its natural need to scatter.”
That may sound ridiculous, but it’s where things like this are headed.
