George Clooney admits Hollywood wingnuts hurt their own causes

Even blind squirels admit they’re nuts once in a while. Actor George Clooney is asking his fellow liberal actors to keep quiet on politics, fearing it’ll ruin their favorite candidates chances of victory.

Then Clooney basically labels the rest of us who vote and/or endorse anybody but liberals as racist war mongers:

“Now, I would argue that (throughout) American history, it’s pretty hard to find a time when liberals were on the wrong side of an issue. We thought that the conservative view was: ‘Witches should be burned at the stake.’ Moderate view was: ‘Well, just in case,’ and the liberal view was: ‘There’s no such thing as witches.’

We thought women should be able to vote and blacks should be allowed to sit at the front of the bus and Vietnam was wrong. We haven’t really been on a lot of wrong sides for us to be sort of used as this bad word.”

Oh, I don’t know about that George. Eisenhower, a republican, was the first president to sign a Civil Rights Act– twice, in ’57 and in ’60. Come to think of it, Nixon, another republican, pulled us out of Vietnam. Who the hell got us into Vietnam in the first place, (C)looney?

(note: a reader tells us, in the comments section, that the “Ku Klux Klan Act” signed by Ulysses S. Grant in 1871 was actually the first civil rights legislation signed by a president. This still doesn’t help Clooney much, since Grant was a Republican, too)

And if conservatives burn witches at the stake, how must we explain Hillary’s lack of even first degree burns?

How come conservatives carry their label proudly, but the likes of Clooney act like they’re being flung with feces when they’re called “liberal”. Now they’re trying to change it to “progressive”, but it’s not working very well.

Let’s assume for the sake of argument that Clooney’s right. If liberals have been historically champions of all things great, right and just, why do they wince and then break into spasm when they’re called what they are? Shouldn’t they be beaming with pride? And why does Clooney feel they ruin the chances of liberal candidates?

Yes, that’s right… Clooney knows the rest of us will be turned off by his purity, because we’re unenlightened racist, sexist morons, and pathetic NASCAR hicks. George is dead wrong, but what do you expect, he’s a ::gulp:: “liberal.”
