Actor Ted Danson, along with model Amber Valletta, presented an environmental award to California Attorney General Bill Lockyer and a food company for their efforts to enforce a California law requiring businesses to label potentially harmful foods– most specifically, the mercury present in seafood. The appearance was on behalf of an environmental group called Oceana.
According to cited data, elevated mercury levels in seafood have been linked to learning disabilities and developmental delays in children, and heart, nervous system, and kidney damage in adults.
Hey Ted, are you sure the oceans are worth saving?
Danson’s warnings of high levels of mercury in food have so freaked out Amber Valletta that she hasn’t eaten in months
