There’s an old saying at Air America meetings: “The enemy of my enemy… still isn’t listening”.
The ratings for the liberal talk network “Air America“, though generally dismal, do show some slight upticks in certain markets, but even that has the overall impact of a mouse breaking wind during a hurricane.
For the most part, low ratings are a real problem. In Washington, DC, they are the problem. The network didn’t even register on the Arbitron meter. Zero, zip, nada. In New York, a city crawling with liberals, you’d think Air America would top Limbaugh and others. It doesn’t come close. Why does Air America fail to take root in even “friendly” cities?
Update: An early dip into the mailbag uncovers Dave J. passing along a story that could easily be related to Air America’s problems:
THE OWNER OF A DOG FOOD FACTORY ONCE CALLED A MEETING OF ALL HIS EMPLOYEES. AT THAT MEETING HE ASKED THEM ALL THIS QUESTION…
“GENTLEMEN, WHY IS IT THAT ALTHOUGH OUR COMPANY HAS, 1)THE BEST ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN IN EVERY SEGMENT OF THE MEDIA, 2) THE BRIGHTEST LABELS ON OUR DOG FOOD CANS, AND 3) THE BEST SHELF SPACE IN EVERY RETAIL OUTLET IN AMERICA. WHY IS IT THAT, DESPITE ALL OF THE ABOVE WE ARE LITERALLY GOING BROKE?”
TO WHICH ONE OF HIS EMPLOYEES RAISED HIS HAND AND QUIETLY REPLIED… “THE DOGS DON’T LIKE IT”
