If you put a wash n wear suit on every hangover you ever had, you’d have Andy Rooney — but I digress.
On last night’s 60 Minutes program, the man who Mike Wallace refers to as “Sonny” gave a few words about 9/11, and closed with this:
“The disaster on September 11th wasn’t like any of those. It was manmade. Death by design. Some people who hated Americans set out to kill a lot of us and they succeeded. Americans are puzzled over why so many people in the world hate us. We seem so nice to ourselves. They do hate us though. We know that and we’re trying to protect ourselves with more weapons. We have to do it I guess, but might be better if we figured out how to behave as a nation in a way that wouldn’t make so many people in the world want to kill us.”
Do you get sick and tired of “bitch had it comin’” liberals? It wouldn’t bother me so much except for in Rooney-land, we’re the bitches who had it coming.
Rooney reminds me a little of Jimmy Carter. Carter responded to accusations of abuses at Gitmo, most of which have been proven false, by thinking that people overseas will like us more if we just close the place. Yep, that’ll make them stop hating us.
The United States gets attacked and subsequently repeatedly threatened with more of the same, and Andy Rooney, Jimmy Carter, and all the other liberals with abused-spouse syndrome start looking around to see who the idiot was that burned al Qaeda’s dinner.
If Andy Rooney and Jimmy Carter were around in the 1600s and falsely accused of practicing witchcraft, they’d have put a quick end to that kind of talk once and for all by torching themselves at the stake. Problem is, we’re sort of tied on there with them.
