Today’s the big day. The “day of resistance.” The people at “World Can’t Wait” have chosen today to protest and drive out the ”Bush regime.” Here’s the deal:

On October 5, people everywhere will walk out of school, take off work, and come to the downtowns & townsquares and set out from there, going through the streets and calling on many more to join us – making a powerful statement: “NO! THIS REGIME DOES NOT REPRESENT US! AND WE WILL DRIVE IT OUT!”

How will the Bush regime be driven from it’s icy, Nazi-esque hold on the nation? By skipping work, school and whatever else to go to a Bush-is-Hitler rally. The chilling ripple effect of this is expected to result in, well, most likely some Bush-haters losing their jobs and/or getting lower grades.

Whether or not you agree with Bush on the war and other things — Lord knows I’ve had my issues — anybody with a properly firing cerebral cortex who reads the rally propaganda has to conclude that the people putting on this thing are a little — oh — out there, and would have even Adolph himself telling them to “cool it on the over-the-top rhetoric already.” (In the spirit of liberal “fairness,” I figured it was about time somebody compared them to Hitler)

With that in mind, and after having reviewed the “big names” behind what I’m calling the “Great American Bush-Out,” I’ve decided to endorse it.

That’s right, I’m endorsing it. As a matter of fact, I’m calling for the protest to be a year-long venture. For an entire year, I think those involved should not go to work or school (in many cases they’re one in the same) and just sit around and bitch about George W. Bush.

Why am I, somebody who is most certainly right of center, encouraging the continuation of the “World Can’t Wait” effort? For starters, endorsers of the call to drive out the Bush regime include:

James Abourezk, Aris Anagnos, Anti-Flag, Edward Asner, Russell Banks, Ed Begley Jr., Harry Belafonte, St. Clair Bourne, Gabriel Byrne, Margaret Cho, Ward Churchill, US Rep John Conyers Jr., John Densmore, Jesse Diaz Jr., Michael Eric Dyson, Steve Earle, Niles Eldridge, Daniel Ellsberg, Eve Ensler, Jane Fonda, Martin Garbus, Andre Gregory, Sam Hamill, Suheir Hammad, Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Jr., Mumia Abu-Jamal, Rickie Lee Jones, Sarah Jones, Brig. Gen. (Ret) Janis Karpinski, Jonathan Kozol, Rabbi Michael Lerner, US Rep. Cynthia McKinney, Robin Meyers, Mark Crispin Miller, Tom Morello, Viggo Mortensen, US Rep. Major Owens, Grace Paley, Harvey Pekar, Sean Penn, Michelle Phillips, Harold Pinter, Michael Ratner, Mark Ruffalo, US Rep. Bobby Rush,  Susan Sarandon, Richard Serra, Rev. Al Sharpton, Cindy Sheehan, Martin Sheen, Nancy Spero, Gloria Steinem, Lynne Stewart, Serj Tankian, Sunsara Taylor, Studs Turkel, Gore Vidal, Kurt Vonnegut, Alice Walker, Naomi Wallace, Lt. Ehren Wahtada, US Rep. Maxine Waters, Cornel West, Ann Wright, Howard Zinn, and thousands more who have already joined us.

Read a large list of “high profile” supporter names, and you tell me if America would miss any of these people if they do indeed skip work or school for a day — or especially a year. I’ll donate money to this cause if they promise that this group of leftist hags, ivory tower artsy pinky-extenders, needle-nosy knee jerkers, congressional lampreys, vacuous actors, walking arguments against women in the military, Castro suck-ups, attention whores, dead-horse beaters, race baiters, Vietnam redux addicts, baby killers (the good kind — abortion providers – not the bad kind like, you know, soldiers), whiffle-brained communist professors, NVA anti-aircraft gun-warmers, ”long distance dedication” dingbats, banana boat boneheads, cop killers, and, worst of all, lawyers, stays distracted for a year.

If you’re going to any of the rallies, the “World Can’t Wait” folks were even kind enough to provide you with pre-written chants. Here they are:

The protests need to grow throughout the day, and one key part of that is powerful, loud chants with a focused message.  Here are some suggestions:

The World Can’t Wait! Drive Out the Bush Regime! Join Us, Join Us, The World Can’t Wait! Drive Out the Bush Regime!

War, lies, Bring It To A Halt! Torture, spies, Bring It To A Halt!

Theocracy on the rise, bring It To A Halt! Earth Destroyed Before Our Eyes, Bring It To A Halt!

With so many poets on the staff, frankly, I’m a little disappointed.

At any rate, please support the Great American Bush-Out. Even if they succeed in driving the president from office, it’s a small price to pay to keep this collective case study – an entire epoch of leftist ethereal twittishness immersed in an eternal struggle with the child-proof cap on an antidepressant pill bottle — from making their normal rounds, at least for a little while.
