Farewell, Bo

Bo Schembechler, the great University of Michigan football coach, has died — the day before is former team is to play Ohio State for the #1 spot in the nation in what some are calling the biggest college football game ever. It certainly is here in Michigan and in Ohio.

Growing up in the 70’s and 80’s and becoming a big football fan, I have many memorable moments committed to memory of Bo and his teams, not to mention the ever excited announcer of U of M games at the time, Bob Ufer, who referred to the coach as “General Bo George Patton Schembechler.”

As a Michigan State fan, however, my team was all too often on the receiving end of the never-ending advancement of Bo’s army, but he was a great coach and football may never see the likes of his tenure again.
