The A.P.’s Unforgivable Faux Pas

The Associated Press Just did something that, even for liberals — heck, especially for liberals — should be considered reprehensible to civilized society.

Judging from this A.P. story, the Taliban is running their organization like some sort of State Department, which of course qualifies them as a reputable source from which to quote about their own murders:

KABUL, Afghanistan – Militants with suicide vests, grenades and AK-47 rifles attacked Kabul’s most popular luxury hotel Monday evening, killing at least two people in a coordinated assault rarely seen in the Afghan capital, witnesses and a Taliban spokesman said.

Then again later:

Zabiullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, told The Associated Press that four militants with suicide vests attacked the hotel.

According to a Taliban spokesman? A Taliban spokesman? I’m surprised even the A.P. would sink this low. Somebody should be fired for this. Don’t they know the proper term is “A Taliban spokesperson“?

Don’t let it happen again, A.P.
