Olbermann Uses 9/11 for Political Purpose of Pointing Out How Republicans Use 9/11 for Political Purpose

Last night, on the eve of the 9/11 anniversary, MSNBC host Keith Olbermann offered a touching tribute to the victims of the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil … Just kidding — he slammed Republicans for their exploitation of 9/11 for political purposes.

On his show — which is like a fringe-left version of Wayne’s World but with fewer viewers and guest-hosted by Noam Chomsky — Olbermann said he believes that the Republican response has been to try to scare the daylights out of citizens in order to maintain control over them — to “play on their fears” as Al Gore once put it.

Olbermann agrees with many on the left that our reaction has been overblown and incompetently overmanaged. He also thinks it’s “playing politics” to show horrific images from that day. Yes, the time has come that somebody is so incredibly partisan that he’d rather bury horrors and pretend they never happened just to get his favorite liberal elected.

The Republicans are overstating the threat? Here’s a list of foiled terror plots against America since 9/11/2001. As soon as one of those threats is directed at Keith Olbermann, then maybe we’ll see him change his tune. Nah, he’ll just blame the threat on Bush.

Here’s Keith in all his gory — “this is supposed to be a day of remembrance.” Then why don’t you let it be, Mr. Olbermann? Geez…

Update: Olbermann Watch has a hilarious video of Keith ragging somebody for “doubting the sincerity of somebody else’s pain” concerning 9/11 (of course that “someone else” is a liberal), and on a subsequent show there’s a clip of Keith speaking of the “Republicans shedding phony crocodile tears on the anniversary of 9/11.”

The man is nuts. Every time I see Keith Olbermann ranting I want to mail him some ball bearings to rattle nervously in his hand so the picture is complete.

Update II: Al-Qaeda using 9/11 for political purposes again. Where’s Keith on this one?
