Barack Obama chose Seattle Police Chief R. Gil Kerlikowske as the United States’ new drug czar, pending confirmation.
There was some snickering about the choice because Kerlikowske’s stepson is currently being held without bail in a Florida jail on drug charges.
I think I follow Obama’s thinking here — Kerlikowske’s probably been too preoccupied with his stepson’s problems over the years to have had time to cheat on his taxes.
