Lead Senate Jester Welcomes Less Funny Comedian to Senate

To tell you the truth, the fact that Jesus didn’t return before I finished watching this clip doesn’t do much for shoring up my religious beliefs, but that aside, below is Senate Super-Majority Leader Harry “we lost” Reid welcoming Al “I won, kind of” Franken to the U.S. Senate today.

Check out the way Franken says “America’s best days lay ahead.” He’s trying to sound motivational and optimistic but instead comes across more like Jack Kevorkian peeking into his van and saying, “Just sit back and you’ll be free from your pain soon.” It would be funny if I wasn’t sitting in the van.

At the very end of the clip, Reid is seen taking Franken into the next room to begin a long night of practice in the “Fisting the taxpayer” simulator:
