It’s clear that Massachusetts voters want a Kennedy to fill Ted’s vacant Senate seat — and the only Kennedy available at the moment doesn’t want the job:
Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley tops a field of potential Democratic candidates for the Senate seat of the late Edward Kennedy as a majority of party voters said they would back Joseph P. Kennedy II, who has declined to make the run, a poll found.
Fifty-nine percent of Massachusetts Democrats surveyed by Boston’s Suffolk University released late yesterday said they would support Joseph Kennedy, a former Massachusetts congressman and nephew of the late senator, if he were in the race.
Joe said he wants to continue his work for Citizens Energy, and since that “non-profit” organization pimps for Hugo Chavez, keeping that job while trying to be a U.S. Senator could prove to be a controversial chore. So Joe’s out.
For over 50 years, Massachusetts has had a Kennedy in that seat. There’s a comfort factor there for the state, so if your name is “Kennedy” and you don’t mind spending your days hanging around worms, vermin, swine, slimewads, crooks and thieves on Capitol Hill while spending a boatload of somebody else’s money and claiming credit for the philanthropy, get your butt to Massachusetts and you too could be a U.S. Senator!
George Kennedy? “Kennedy” from MTV back in the day? Anyone? There are tons and tons of Kennedys in Massachusetts. Would another Kennedy step forward and claim that seat already? It’s yours for the taking!
