The nuts at ACORN, the organized crime syndicate disguised as a “community organization,” would have been wise to just let this one go, but they’re not:
ACORN and two former employees of its Baltimore office filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit Wednesday against the makers of a hidden-camera video that showed the employees giving tax advice to a man posing as a pimp and a woman posing as a prostitute.
The liberal activist group contends that the audio portion of the video was obtained illegally because Maryland law requires the consent of both parties to record private conversations.
The employees seen in the video, Tonja Thompson and Shera Williams, were fired after it was posted online. Thompson and Williams are plaintiffs in the lawsuit, which says they suffered “extreme emotional distress with attendant physical symptoms and injury to their reputations.”
The lawsuit names James O’Keefe III and Hannah Giles, who played the pimp and prostitute in the video, as defendants. It also names conservative columnist and blogger Andrew Breitbart of Los Angeles, who posted it on his Web site, biggovernment.com.
“Extreme emotional distress”? In medical circles this is known as “Post traumatic pimp disorder.” Those reputations sure were damaged too — because to O’Keefe and Giles, pimps and hos might not even consider using the Thompson and Williams’ services again. Those bastards! They’ve lost their chance to be “Fraud Czars” in Obama’s administration, and somebody’s going to pay!
Why could this lawsuit be a stupid move by ACORN? Because, as Breitbart has said, he’s looking forward to the many other details about ACORN that will come to light in a discovery process that ACORN has now invited. And, if ACORN does not win the lawsuit, Thompson and Williams might just as well sue ACORN for firing them over information that was gathered illegally.
This seems to be a lose-lose situation that ACORN has created for itself, and one that can’t be solved by vote fraud — not that they won’t try (honk if you notice the names of any Dallas Cowboys or Disney characters on the jury roster). And no matter what the outcome of the lawsuit, in the arena of public relations, they’ll still be viewed as sleazebags under Obama’s bus keeping the other sleazebags company.
Update: Ace has a prediction about which way this lawsuit will go:
