Bloomberg Invites Imam Linked to WTC Bombing to Meeting Designed to Prove Most Muslims Aren’t Terrorists

Epic “fail” at its most deserved…

NY Mayor Bloomberg invited some Muslim leaders to City Hall. Bloomberg’s intent was to hold a meeting to discuss the prevention of a backlash against Muslims after the Fort Hood shooting by getting it through the non-Muslim world’s thick skull that the vast majority of Muslims aren’t terrorists.

One of “Muslim leaders” who received an invitation and showed up was this guy:

The mayor’s office admits it goofed when it invited a Brooklyn imam linked to the 1993 World Trade Center bombing to City Hall for a Muslim community meeting on Wednesday.

Siraj Wahhaj was one of nine Islamic leaders who met with Mayor Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly over fears of a backlash against local Muslims after the Fort Hood massacre.

The imam’s past wound up overshadowing the get-together and the mayor’s red-faced staff later said Wahhaj should never have been there in the first place.

I’ll bet if Wahhaj was a smoker or known to munch on salty snacks he not only wouldn’t have been invited, but he’d have been arrested.

Wahhaj is one of 170 people identified as unindicted co-conspirators in the 1993 WTC bombing.

How’s that outreach goin’ for ya, Mr. Mayor?
