For most of the rest of the day I’ll be having company over and watching the Michigan/Ohio State game at noon, followed by the Michigan State/Penn State game at 3:30, so we’ll be stuffing our faces with tailgate food and adult beverages — not necessarily in that order — and completely taking a break from politics.

The Senate is expected to vote at 8 p.m. to see if the Obama/Reid/Pelosicare bill ($850 billion to cover 4 million people?) will move on to a final vote sometime after the Thanksgiving holiday. Until then, debate is ongoing and you can watch it live here.

Assuming they get to a vote tonight (if Reid knows he as the votes, he’ll get to it), I’ll update this post with the results later if I’m still conscious. Will $100 million be enough for the Dems to buy off the vote of Mary Landrieu? We’ll find out soon enough.

Hopefully there are enough Senators who are willing to put the future of America ahead of their immediate wants, greeds and lust for increased power (pause for laughter).

Update: Michelle M. reports that Harry Reid has his 60 votes. We’ll find out for sure in a while.

Update II: Senate votes 60-39 to move the bill forward. Landrieu was effectively bought off in the Louisiana Purchase II. Republican Senator Voinovich did not vote.

BOHICA.
