Forgetting Pearl Harbor

Sixty-eight years ago today, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in what has become one of the most historic events in history.

I just checked the major news outlets websites for any mention of that “day that will live in infamy,” and apparently Pearl Harbor will have to continue to live in infamy, because it won’t live on at the majority of major news outlets.

Between ABC News, CBS News, NBC News (MSNBC), CNN and Fox News, the New York Times and USA Today, only NBC, Fox News and the USA Today have any mention of the Pearl Harbor attack on their homepage. As of 10 a.m. even Drudge has no mention.

In 60 years, will far less than half of the existing “major” news outlets of the day (if there are any left) fail to mention 9/11 on 9/11?

Stars and Stripes certainly hasn’t forgotten Pearl Harbor — nor have many bloggers.

Update: I was Twittered and reminded that the search engine Bing has a nice photo on their main page — but of course there’s nothing on Google.
