Have you heard the news, Monica? Newsweek Editor Jon Meacham, in an article/interview about and with Bill Clinton, felt compelled to throw in the following snicker-inducer:

What you’re describing is the end of “future preference” [the idea that each person has an obligation to sacrifice today for the benefit of tomorrow, a longtime Clinton principle].

If there’s a man whose name is synonymous with constraint and taking into consideration the effect today’s actions might have on tomorrow, it’s Bill Clinton.

That part of the article could be fixed with a simple disclaimer to make it more accurate:

What you’re describing is the end of “future preference” [the idea that ***each person has an obligation to sacrifice today for the benefit of tomorrow, a longtime Clinton principle.

***Excluding poontang and McDonalds — and by “each person” we mean “everybody except Bill Clinton”
