Gilligan’s Island was one of my favorite shows as a kid. Heck, it still is. There’s something refreshingly light about the thinly plotted, campy show where the professor can make a radio out of a coconut but can’t fix a hole in the boat.

And now it’s coming to the big screen to more than likely have its memory completely ruined:

The seven castaways of “Gilligan’s Island” have found a home at Warner Bros. and Atlas Entertainment.

The studio and production company have begun development on a feature film based on the iconic CBS sitcom, which generated solid ratings during its three seasons between 1964 and 1967 and then found something close to eternal life in syndication.

Here are my picks for the cast:

Gilligan: Joe Biden
Skipper: Barbara Mikulski
Mary-Ann: Rachel Ray
Ginger: Charlize Theron
Professor: Al Gore
Thurston Howell III: John Kerry
Lovey: Arianna Huffington

Doug – I think the skipper should be "played" by Barney Frank!

Although Janet Napalitano looks more like the skipper!

I was kind of thinking Barney might want the part of Ginger.

That was a fun show in a world that no longer exists. The demented progeny of G’s Island might be ‘Survivor’.

Great cast.Theron is perfect.Mary-Ann could be better served.AlGore would not survive the first 10 minutes of the 3 hour tour as would jump out of the boat to swim with an Orca.

    useless trivia:
Mary-Ann bought a house in which I once attended Cub Scouts. Some friends of mine also taught her to sing.

You mean Al Gore would jump out of the boat to swim with his twin brother Orca.

More useless trivia: A guy I used to know once smoked a joint with Mary-Ann,2933,336817,00.htm
