There’s a story at the Daily Caller which focuses on GOP Chairman Michael Steele once mentioning the possibility of using party funds to buy a private jet for his travel.

Read on in the story though and you’ll find a real gem about Steele’s travel expenses:

Once on the ground, FEC filings suggest, Steele travels in style. A February RNC trip to California, for example, included a $9,099 stop at the Beverly Hills Hotel, $6,596 dropped at the nearby Four Seasons, and $1,620.71 spent [update: the amount is actually $1,946.25] at Voyeur West Hollywood, a bondage-themed nightclub featuring topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex.

RNC trips to other cities produced bills from a long list of chic and costly hotels such as the Venetian and the M Resort in Las Vegas, and the W (for a total of $19,443) in Washington. A midwinter trip to Hawaii cost the RNC $43,828, not including airfare.

If GOP donors question these kinds of ridiculous expenses, Steele can claim that $2,000 for women imitating lesbian sex is fiscally responsible, because the party could have paid $4,000 to see women actually having lesbian sex. We Republicans know where to draw the fiscal responsibility line!

By the way, is it safe to assume that Steele visited Voyeur West Hollywood with the Minority Whip in tow? Nobody at the GOP front office could be reached for comment, possibly because they haven’t taken out the ball-gags yet. (incidentally, the GOP is denying Steele was at the bondage club)

No wonder the Republicans have had trouble winning elections in the past few years — if they’d put some of that bondage club dues and trip to Hawaii cash into somebody’s political campaign they might get somewhere.

And if Democrats question or mock Steele’s spending, as Treacher points out, that means they’re racist.

It is a generational thing, not a party thing. The group you are seeing in charge coming from the sixties/seventies period of Me first, You're okay, I'm okay bullsh**. They are by far NOT the greatest generation who is quickly dying off.

One argument made about how the MBS got so out of control in the financial market was that all the old more cautious more humble leaders had left, leaving only the arrogant younger players in charge. Much like Steele, who must be dumber than a bag of hammers not to know it would come out sooner or later.

Hey, you get what you pay for. We hired Steele for one reason only. So the republicans could say, "See, we have one too!"

Jeeezzz. it is going to be a long decade.

    read the book.

Drunks, strippers, thieves, liars, homos and limitless spending are historical points of pride with Democrats(the peeplz party). The Repubs are finally catching up as they accept “pacification”.
