Sarah Palin’s debut show on Fox News was Thursday night, and if you only read the lefty sites, you’d think it was the Gigli of news/chat shows:
Kos breaks down how Rupert Murdoch didn’t even make enough money off Palin’s show to power the lights and cameras, or something like that:
If Fox News thought they had the next big thing locked up when they signed Sarah Palin, they may be having second thoughts today.
The broadcast of Sarah Palin’s Real American Fluff Pieces, a collection of old clips that were supposed to be inspirational, probably did not inspire much excitement in the Fox News executive suites. The audience, while besting the competition, was not particularly impressive for Fox. In fact, Palin had fewer viewers than Greta Van Susteran’s On the Record, the program she preempted.
Here are the raw numbers from Drudge:
CABLE NEWS RACE
THURS., APRIL 1, 2010
FOXNEWS O’REILLY 2,981,000
FOXNEWS HANNITY 2,256,000
FOXNEWS PALIN 2,073,000
FOXNEWS BECK 2,014,000
FOXNEWS BAIER 1,877,000
FOXNEWS SHEP 1,658,000
MSNBC OLBERMANN 989,000
MSNBC MADDOW 950,000
CNN KING 839,000
CNN COOPER 820,000
CNNHN BEHAR 641,000
The left is gloating that Palin’s show only got slightly more viewers than libtard celebres Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow combined? And Chris Matthews is off the chart, and not on the topside. More people watched my last colonoscopy than watched Chris Matthews’ yellow journalism last week — and got pretty much the same experience.
The liberal talkers and their apologists who also dabble in environmentalism don’t look at Fox News as having way more viewers, but rather they consider themselves to be offering “viewer offsets.” They’ll stop at nothing to save the planet.
So, are Palin’s ratings “unspectacular” because she was beaten by two other Fox News shows? The Daily Kos does point out that the ratings are a “disappointment” for Fox News. For MSNBC, CNN or CNBC those kind of ratings are nothing short of the same kind of wet dream that makes a mess of their Walter Mondale bed sheets.
It must be frustrating for them. The only gauge the left can use to measure the “success” or “failure” of a Fox News program is to compare it to… other Fox News programs — because compared to talkers the liberals serve up on cable, a test pattern on channel 943 at 3 a.m. is a ratings bonanza.
The same people who talk up Maddow, Behar and Olbermann gloating over Palin’s mere 2 million viewers are coming across like a football team dumping Gatorade over their coach and popping the cork on the Champaign because they scored a last-second field goal and only lost 45-3.
