New York Mayor Bloomberg, just a day or two ago, said that authorities had no idea who tried to set off a car bomb in Times Square, except to add that it was probably a Tea Party type:

“If I had to guess 25 cents, this would be exactly that. Homegrown, or maybe a mentally deranged person, or somebody with a political agenda that doesn’t like the health care bill or something. It could be anything,” he said.

Imagine if he said “it’s probably a Muslim” or “could be a Latino upset with the Arizona immigration law” — he’d have been forced to resign by now.

And sure enough, Bloomberg’s psychological profile was right on target… except it wasn’t:

A Connecticut man who recently spent several months in his native Pakistan was arrested at Kennedy Airport early this morning in connection with the attempted Times Square car bombing, law-enforcement sources told The Post.

Faisal Shahzad, 30, was trying to flee the United States and was headed for Dubai when he was apprehended by federal customs agents, the sources said.

A Pakistani headed for Dubai — typical “Teabagger.”

Bloomberg not only owes an apology to Tea Partiers, but he should also be made to resign for being an idiot who treats salt, trans fat and anti-Obamacare protesters as a greater threat than the Islamofascism that is continually targeting his city.

The refusal of Obama, Bloomberg, et al, to stop living in agenda-driven fantasyland and wake up and smell the real world is going to get somebody killed.

Update: You know things are bad when even Paul Begala gets it.

In his speech this morning, I expected Bloomberg to express concern that Islamic radicals had joined forces with the "tea baggers".
