Chris Dodd’s connected to this, so you just know it’s on the up-and-up:

With the support of Sen. Chris Dodd, D.-Conn., the federal government has awarded $54 million to Connecticut’s politically well-connected Mohegan Indian tribe, which operates one of the highest grossing casinos in the U.S.

The tribe runs the sprawling Mohegan Sun casino, halfway between New York City and Boston, which earned more than $1.3 billion in gross revenues in 2009. Each tribe member receives a cut of the profits, a number a tribal official said was “less than $30,000″ per capita per year. The stimulus money is a loan from a U.S. Department of Agriculture rural development program that is meant to help communities of less than 20,000 people that have been “unable to obtain other credit at reasonable rates and terms and are unable to finance the proposed project from their own resources.”

That’s the beauty of the government… they lose our money gambling for us so we don’t have to take the time to do it ourselves. I’m sure Dodd’s excuse will be that Peter Minuit ripped off the indians for Manhattan so this is merely “fair” payback.

I think Dodd is tired of being the 3rd most corrupt congressmen in the House, and is looking to move up on Charlie Rangle and Alan Mollohan for the 1 pole position. He can go out with a bang abd everyone will remember him as THE MOST CORRUPT congressmen in our time.

Try having Levin and Stab-a-cow from Michigan! They don't carry a label of corrupt but they are two of the most idiotic in the Senate. Stab-a-cow claims she can "feel" global warming when she flies because of turbulence. Me thinks she's just full of sh!t.

Our indian casinos and the other 3 in Detroit that are not owned by the Indians are all exempt from the no smoking laws in Michigan. In the mean time every bar owner in the state of Michigan is experiencing a third less in revenue because of the ban. Which means a third less in sales tax to the state. Libs just can't see past the end of their nose when it comes to common sense.

    Vote them all out!

[...] you trust an Obama crony to get the money into the hands of businesses/individuals that deserve it without politics or his ideology coming into play, that would be the height of naivety.   I’m astounded at people who would rather forgo rule [...]

Can we please stop saying that Indians, (or Native Americans, or American Indians, or whatever White Guilt name we have this week) are victims since we took their land from them? They're laughing all the way to the bank, Kimosabe!

Nice pile of anti-Indian racism here, from the stereotype language in the title to the most recent comment, with references to Tonto.

I'm all for the smoking ban in bars. Without it, customers and employees are forced by careless slobs to smoke. Because smokers are beligerent slobs, we have the ban.

In most countries, trading by corporate insiders such as officers, key employees, directors, and large shareholders may be legal, if this trading is done in a way that does not take advantage of non-public information.
