Bart Stupak’s Term as ‘Sucker of the Year’ Officially Begins Today

Everybody knew that when Bart Stupak held his support for the Obamacare bill until federal funding for abortions was taken out that it would end up happening anyway, but today’s the day we can officially stamp “sucker” on Stupak’s forehead:

Washington, DC ( – The Obama administration has officially approved the first instance of taxpayer funded abortions under the new national government-run health care program. This is the kind of abortion funding the pro-life movement warned about when Congress considered the bill.

The Obama Administration will give Pennsylvania $160 million to set up a new “high-risk” insurance program under a provision of the federal health care legislation enacted in March.

It has quietly approved a plan submitted by an appointee of pro-abortion Governor Edward Rendell under which the new program will cover any abortion that is legal in Pennsylvania.

The DC Democrats will say something like this: “We did keep up our end of the Stupak deal — Federal money isn’t being used for abortions. We’re giving money to a state, at which point it becomes the state’s money, and if it goes toward abortions at that point, then it was state and not federal money that paid for abortions.”

Yes, they’re that wormy.

From an op-ed Stupak wrote in March of this year explaining why he voted for the Obamacare bill:

Therefore, I and other pro-life Democrats struck an agreement with President Obama to issue an executive order that would ensure all Hyde Amendment protections would apply to the health-care reform bill. No, an executive order is not as strong as the statutory language we fought for at the start. We received, however, an “ironclad” commitment from the president that no taxpayer dollars will be used to pay for abortions.

And the rest of America received an ironclad commitment that our lives would be gumdrops, rainbows & unicorns by now, too.

I have to say it one more time: Sucker!
