If I didn’t know our illustrious Congress so well, I’d guess this was only a joke:

Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert is slated to testify at a congressional hearing Friday on immigration titled “Protecting America’s Harvest.”

One Republican source said Colbert will be testifying “in character,” the Bill O’Reilly-like muse Colbert uses for his show.

A House Judiciary Committee spokeswoman, confirming Colbert would testify, said the hearing matter was a “serious issue . . . this is not a TV stunt.”

Some Republicans have already expressed unhappiness with Colbert witnessing at the hearing, thinking it would make light of a serious issue.

One thing’s for sure: Colbert won’t be able to be any funnier than the federal government’s inept and barely half-assed attempt to protect the border.

Are you starting to think that part of our national security and border problems might stem from the fact that Congress is seeking advice from comedians? But enough about the Obama administration…

I would guess most of us have by now surmised we can pretty well count on anything said by a dem. politician to be opposite of the truth, so , this spokewoman`s words can be understood to mean, "NOT a serious matter….this IS a TV stunt." Otherwise, we might RIGHTLY ask, "From whence cometh Colbert`s expertise to testify ?" CLOWNS ALL !!!

Where is the real world where I could say, "You just can`t make this sh*t up !!"

…and now that one further clown has been added, Congress is officially a 3-Ring circus.

And Meryl Streep once testified about Alar in apples… I guess because she was once in a movie that had apples in it so naturally that made her an expert.

Aw, c'mon y'all! Colbert testifying in Congress isn't as big a joke as Al Franken being IN it! Not to mention all the other "jokes" we all know and love(?).

This is really disturbingly pathetic. Watching these Dem obamaphiles is like watching a Little Rascals movie but with the possibility of a far more ominous outcome. They’re like children play acting at being grown ups but seem clueless as to how its supposed to be done.

Waiting for an intelligent idea from a Dems mind is like waiting for a neutrino to be found in a multi-million-gallon vat of water, while their most holy obamimam continues his chants of “…Bush‘s fault, Bush‘s fault” , floating, rolling head over heels in the empty expanse between his ears, willfully oblivious to reality, living on the 13th floor. Yep, here I am, here I am.

How can this guy keep going out in public every day?

    You use your tongue prettier than a $20 whore … http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C35Zhdk2V4U :D

What can I say, you're on a roll LOL!!!

Because, clearly, the only way to discuss the seriousness of this matter is to invite a comedian to testify. In character.

To paraphrase the illustrious Stephen Green the Vodkapundit: Dumbasses.
