From the First Lady of Health and Wellness, this is hardly surprising — nobody actually believes she lives on lawn clippings and tree bark, do they?

MILWAUKEE – First lady Michelle Obama thrilled staff and customers when she made a surprise visit to Miss Katie’s Diner on the city’s near west side.

Mrs. Obama met her cousin and her cousin’s daughter for lunch at the restaurant.

Jennifer Laschen waited on their table. “I’ve been doing this for 25, 30 years and I’ve never had such a thrill, such an honor to wait on a first lady in my life,” she said.

Laschen said the first lady ordered a cheeseburger and fries. Mrs. Obama took pictures and signed autographs for the staff at the diner and their customers.

Somebody fetch the BMI calipers! Normally the restaurant employees are forbidden from discussing what the Obamas ate, so the fact that this was allowed to slip out was probably just an attempt to “connect” with us fat, dumb serfs in flyover country.

While on the Chicago swing of her trip, FLOTUS stopped in to vote early, and Drudge reported that she may have violated Illinois law by talking politics at the polling place.

Whether or not that actually happened isn’t known yet, but it did lead Drudge to publish the quote of the day:

A top Ilinois State Board of Elections official tells the DRUDGE REPORT that Mrs. Obama — a Harvard-educated lawyer — may have simply been ignorant of the law and thus violated it unintentionally.

“You kind of have to drop the standard for the first lady, right?” the official explained late Thursday. “I mean, she’s pretty well liked and probably doesn’t know what she’s doing.”

Runs in the family.

Something about ignorance of the law not being an excuse. Going to have to start using the Michelle Obama excuse for all my driving transgressions.

Laws are for the little people. Yeah I haven't seen this brand of arrogance since The Queen of Mean Leona Helmsley. When you get pulled over just say you "may have simply been ignorant of the law and thus violated it unintentionally". Or just SLAP the arresting office Zsa Zsa Gabor style?

Chicago may well be the only remaining place she's "pretty well liked". Had enough ( moderates, independents… free spirits? )

"I mean she is pretty well liked and probably didn't know what she was doing"

Kinda like the dunce she is married to! Probably a nice guy but just plain stupid.

I hope that her delicate system, used to spanish lobster and kobe beef, can tolerate the nasty peasant food. All that fat will go straight to her precious arms!

“You kind of have to drop [dumb down] the standard for the first lady, right?”

"I mean she is pretty well liked [a lot of people pity her] and probably didn't know what she was doing.”

Speaker requested name to be withheld for fear going the way of Vince Foster.

“…she may have violated Illinois law…”

    Illinois has voter laws??

You mean like: vote conservative and the New Black Panthers will show up at your door?
