There were a couple things I didn’t get to last night, and I’m kind of glad I didn’t because they seem even sweeter now on only three hours sleep…

First, congratulations to Allen West in Florida:

BOCA RATON — Wednesday morning, it became clear that the predicted wave of GOP victories in the mid-term elections was a fact, as West laid claim to the District 22 seat.

“I’m not going to Washington, D.C. to be a ruling class elitist or to be a career politician,” West told the wildly cheering crowd. “I’m going there to fix the problems, and then I’m coming home.”

As of 8:20 a.m., with 97 percent of precincts reporting, West was ahead with 54.3 percent of the votes. Klein trailed with 45.7 percent.

More good news for the constitution — remember Phil Hare, the Democrat who said he didn’t worry about the constitution because Obamacare was more important than that trivial little document? Well, Phil will have a lot more free time not to care about the constitution now, because he was denied a third term last night.

In case you’ve forgotten or hadn’t seen it, here’s the kind of thing that helped do him in (money quote at about the :45 mark)

And finally (for now), lunatic Alan Grayson is blaming gerrymandering for his loss. Whatever — don’t go away crazy, Alan, just go away.

I wanted to start the day with something poetic like; "It's morning in America – again."
Unfortunately, the heavy lifting has just begun and it's going to be a tough haul when the White House and Senate aren't going to be picking up their end of the sofa.

    Doug!

Firstly, congrats to Rick Snyder and Michiganders at large! Much kudos. Enjoy it in good health my friend.

Went to the OR Tea Party "Rock The Republic" at the Monarch Hotel in Portland last night and had a ball! By the time we got there many of the east coast races had already been decided and we -still- don't know if Chris Dudley will become the first GOP gov. in OR in for… forever?

msnbc ( refuse to cap ) would be pleased w/ themselves to note the crowd was largely white, 50-ish but disappointed to learn we're not only well behaved but well dressed! ( Although I found the line for the wet bar intolerable! ) Yes dear.., chardonnay it is!

Sorry libs, we get all the hot chicks. Better luck in the next life, now if I could just find an Olive Branch for you to shove?

  3. Doug on November 3rd, 2010 12:31 pm

Michigan went totally red last night, from state gov't to SoS, judges, everything… no excuses now!

Hey, people who don't like to wait in line at the bar were the inspiration for the invention of the flask!

Watched Palin on Fox, but couldn't change the channel fast enough when they brought out Geraldine Ferraro. (Nose-dive/wilting whistle sound effect plays in background.)

"inspiration for the invention of the flask"

    ( Doug… always one-step ahead of me )

LOL, yeah you can't say the Tea Party ain't got class, we were checked in and had (2) Free Tickets for discounted drinks before you could say Alan Grayson! The band was excellent and we had http://www.victoriataft.com emcee the event. Even sexier in person! ( Eat yer' hearts out you libby LIBS! )

    Got Olive Branch?

Great “Tea Party” election coverage by Powers/Malkin.

Sarah Palin was stellar on Fox.She was kickin’ a$$ an’ takin’ names.

Kewt Katie could only smile while thinking of the tens of millions$$$ in “perky pay” she gets for doing a job a chimp did for decades.

Flyover voters shouted,”We’re mad as HELL and we’re NOT going to take this anymore!!!…except in a few places.”

    TZK-set fire to the sofa.

I like the smell of Slurpee in the morning. Smells like the car being pulled out of the ditch.

  10. Marshall_Will on November 3rd, 2010 2:31 pm

    TZK,

I've always felt the BO "car in the ditch" analogy was perfectly laughable. That.., ( true enough ) is where the Republicans 'left' it for you, but that's where it ends.

SINCE then, Obama has smashed out the headlights, pried the mirrors off the doors, set off the airbags, slashed the tires, defaced w/ rattle-can graffiti ( and… while we're in auto-analogy mode ) removed the VIN #'s and registration so Republicans won't even be able to 'trace' the STOLEN vehicle!

Isn't this usually where (1) of two things happens? Either the insurance company finds it and declares a -total- loss, or the owner finds… ( and then pretends he 'didn't'? ) After the lit gas-soaked rag in the fuel tank ( Obamacare ) went off, I'm… going w/ 'total'.

Before we make ONE econ. recovery suggestion, we need to make sure Hoops In Chief takes accountability for his little joyride at the taxpayer's expense. If only it as easy as calling your State Farm agent; "Yeah Sam, you're not going to 'believe' this but…

Doug, great post at MM's on Issa. I too, did a Slurpee spit take.

  12. Marshall_Will on November 3rd, 2010 3:08 pm

    OK_Loyalist,

Agreed, and it could be worse? Here's our local "mayor in drag"
    http://www.statesmanjournal.com/section/SILVERTON

"Ramussen Will Return As Mayor" ( That's a 'dude' yer' looking at ) It's not bad enough bus. people all 'around' the State immediately identify 'you' w/ him… 'her' whatever, but it just means more anti-business drivel. So how's the -weather- there… in Oklahoma..?

  13. Marshall_Will on November 3rd, 2010 3:15 pm

"complete with a candlelight dinner" (PTB on MM ) LOL

Yeah but I know what he can do with that bottle o' wine? Please tell me that was just a bit of disingenuous lip service? And no, I've never gotten poison ivy 'there'.

  14. sizemorew on November 3rd, 2010 4:07 pm

Grayson's special brand of insanity will continue to live on one way or another. It's our job to make sure it doesn't become policy.

  15. OK_Loyalist on November 3rd, 2010 4:57 pm

Great Googly Moogly on that Mayor!

Weather is beautiful this time of year around 70F in the day and around 40F at night! I love Autumn.

  16. SignPainterGuy on November 3rd, 2010 6:57 pm

Great Googly Moogly is RIGHT !! (shivering) Is that his(?) normal appearance or was the photo taken at some "special" occasion ?! The hair and cleavage look real !(?) Eeeeeeeww!

Your "car in the ditch" analogy is one of the best I`ve seen / heard……I still believe O and Co. spent far more time and effort digging the ditch deeper than they did trying to push the car out / Bush`s bad driving didn`t take us "over the cliff" / isn`t that an Obama / Biden sticker on the rear bumper ?! (I could swear I saw a Frank & Dodd bus do a "drive-by-stickering" !)

  17. SignPainterGuy on November 3rd, 2010 7:18 pm

My little town has an empty dirt lot (bus. park) built at our expense with all utilities stubbed in to the gate when , 1st BMW and later Mercedes-Benz wanted to build 350 employee parts dist. plants…….the region`s 2 largest employers choked them out to "protect their hiring pools" ! The no. 1 emp. is 55% its size at that time and the 2nd is out of bus. Both, 1 and 2 are / were union run; or choked / mis-run is more apt. !

  18. SignPainterGuy on November 3rd, 2010 7:44 pm

G.F. caused a gag reflex the first time she appeared 20+ yrs. ago and still does ! She personifies "failure and stupidity are resume inhancements for the dems" !

  19. Marshall_Will on November 3rd, 2010 7:46 pm

    SPG,

No actually that's his 'modest' look. He really sexes it up when playing the role of "gal about town". This is what I put with. Day in day out. A deathgrip on our state capitol by the Dem's/teacher's union, transvestite-hooker mayor and the steady exodus of rational business people.

    How 'bad' could OK be!?

  20. SignPainterGuy on November 3rd, 2010 8:26 pm

By comparison, I`m thinking OK`s tag phrase "OK is ok" is spot on ! And your Mayor-ess would fit-right-in in Asheville,NC – S.F. , East Coast Branch !

And speaking of "the land of fruits and nuts" , now can we shove California out into the Pacific, oh, 300 miles or so and let them be their own sovereign nation ?! Missing their chance to legalize pot is the only thing they`ve done right lately !

  21. OK_Loyalist on November 3rd, 2010 8:27 pm

OK was the only state in the Union that all Counties voted for McCain, that's how bad it could be ;)

    Mild winters and HOT summers
