January 2009:

Mr. Obama agreed when Mr. Stephanopoulos asked if he wanted Americans to know that “everybody in the country is going to have to sacrifice something, accept change for the greater good.”

“Everybody is going to have to give. Everybody is going to have to have some skin in the game,” Mr. Obama said during the interview, taped Saturday in Washington.

As usual, the “sacrifice for the greater good” involves the rest of us doing with less so we can pay millions for another extravagant Obama family vacation:

Nobody questions a president’s right or need to take take away from the White House, but an investigation by Hawaii Reporter has turned up some eye-opening information about the costs and other aspects of the Obama get-away.

Just consider these estimates on part of the costs of the latest Obama Hawaii trip:

* Mrs. Obama’s early flight to Hawaii: $63,000 (White House Dossier)

* Obama’s round trip flight to Hawaii: $1 million (GAO estimates)

* Housing in beachfront homes for Secret Service and Seals in Kailua ($1,200 a day for 14 days): $16,800

* Costs for White House staff staying at Moana Hotel: $134,400 ($400 per day for 24 staff) – excluding meals and other room costs

* Police overtime: $250,000 (2009 costs reported by Honolulu Police Department)

* Ambulance: $10,000 (City Spokesperson)

TOTAL COST: $1,474,200

But that $1.47 million figure leaves out a number of signficant costs that simply could not be calculated by Hawaii Reporter:

* Rental of office building in Kailua on canal

* Security upgrades and additional phone lines.

* Costs for car rentals and fuel for White House staff staying at Moana Hotel (Secret Service imports most of the cars used here to escort the president).

* Surveillance before the president arrives.

* Travel costs for Secret Service and White House staff traveling ahead of the President.

The trip could have been done for less, and just as securely. But doing with less is for us little people.

And I don’t know if the cost includes some documents that the president signed while on vacation — documents that were flown in separately. I’m guessing those papers didn’t sit in coach on a regularly scheduled passenger flight, either.

I wouldn’t mind this much at all if we hadn’t recently gotten a finger-pointing lecture about “sacrifice” and how we’re all going to have to give up a little until the economy rebounds.

In other vacation news, as you can see, Michelle is interested in hearing Barack’s every word as usual:

Update: Dandapani in comments inspires this challenge: Guess what Michelle is listening to.

I’m going to guess that she’s listening to this because the SEIU is going to be paid $100 million to distribute it to every kid who goes to a public school as part of the “Let’s Move” campaign.

I sincerely hope our R House majority has the cajones to clip Zero`s spending wings, I think he`s spending in his sleep ! Enjoying the perks while he can, indeed !

From the photo link (see), Meanchelle must be listening to a tour on cd of the best ice cream shops and high fashion shopping opportunities ! (If she`s gonna block out Teh One`s voice, she may as well make it good !)

Also from those photos, cars allowed on the road at the same time as the motorcade…one guy waving as they pass .. When the First Family visited here earlier this year, 9 miles of I-26 from I-40 at Asheville`s edge out to the airport was completely shut down. I witnessed this, I don`t know for sure about highways and streets in town; just that his disruption wasn`t worth it for me ! It seems Hawaii is much more trusting than mainland states !

Doug, you have that all wrong. She's listening to one of Barack's speeches on the iPod, jammed packed with them, that he gave her for Christmas.

Yup, it's always US who have to sacrifice. I was listening to the Reagan/Carter debate for the presidency on my headphones, and Carter made mention that they had "demanded" that the citizens made sacrifices. Funny, the left and them always wanting to demand things. Didn't Moo-shell say something about Barack "demanding" that we get to work, or something?

Obama has to party while the partying's still good. His POTUS credit card with the unlimited credit line is set to expire in January 2013.

    Part One

I wonder if any of those Wiki Leaks thousands of pages have a total of what these Chicago thieves have used on their multitude of vacations since moving on up to the east side in the last two years.

One of the many aggravating things about these two is their total lack of humility and thankfulness. Their arrogant air of entitlement and the in your face, and we don’t give a damn what you or anyone else in the world thinks about us.

We made it to the top the Chicago way: subterfuge lies, deceit and payoffs and we’re taking everything we can while we’re here, the dignity of the office be damned and we refuse any and all who might ask any explanations.

  6. Clu Seatoe on December 31st, 2010 5:54 pm

    Part Two

I believe it was Eisenhower who opened Camp David for his vacations; while Kennedy was alive Martha’s Vineyard seemed to suffice for vacations, Johnson would go to his Texas ranch, Nixon had San Clemente on the coast of California, Carter would go back to his roots, Bush Senior would vacation in Maine, Reagan had his California ranch, I can’t remember where the Clinton’s spent their separate vacations, Bush the lesser would go back to the womb in Texas, and they all had their respites at Camp David as well. These were (mostly) established men and families all and had roots somewhere.

Now, here’s the situation: Once Mao’s four years are over he and the rest know all they have waiting for them is the Chicago projects they’ll have to return too.

Sooo, since everything they have has been stolen from everyone around them by the afore mentioned subterfuge it’s not a stretch to steal millions from the American people to see the world now, while it’s within reach knowing that when the ride is over it’s back to Chicago, Kenya or Southeast Asia.

  15. Ken in Texas on January 1st, 2011 1:28 am

Well. I'm glad y'all finally got to the Happy New Year part! That's what I wanted to say to y'all anyway, especially to Doug and family. I don't know if they can do that, living in Michigan and all, but let's hope for the best. Me and Lurleen are headin' out for my youngest son's ranch shortly with a truckload of Corona and tequila. No limes though; anybody who shoves fruit in their beer should live in San Francisco. May 2011 bless us all.

  16. Ken in Texas on January 1st, 2011 1:38 am

Oh, yeah; forgot to mention…if you've never experienced a New Year's celebration in West Texas, you ain't lived yet! Fiddles, guitars, banjos and dobros come from all over, some from hundreds of miles away along with the folks who can play 'em. Got my dobro in the truck. I'm out'a here!

  17. SignPainterGuy on January 1st, 2011 1:46 am

Enjoy , Ken ! Sounds like "fruitless" fun !

Bush 43 was the King of Vacations.

  19. SignPainterGuy on January 3rd, 2011 4:18 pm

    Your avatar speaks volumes !

I`ll say this for Jr Bush, never once did I doubt his love for this country and her people nor will I think of him as a Marxist communist as I do Obummer and his administration and his MANY appointees !!!

  20. Spanky2a on January 3rd, 2011 10:10 pm

As a famous poster once opined, the Swing Vote doesn't care about the past, just the present.

Furthermore, Bush's vacations were mostly taken at his ranch, where he conducted business as usual, just from a different location.

When Obama is on vacation, he's really on vacation and not accomplishing anything (which is probably a good thing for the country).

  21. RetiredSailor1 on January 7th, 2011 12:05 pm

Bush was Also the King of Borrow and Spend.
