It’s pitiful whenever a program invites somebody to speak who they know has a track record for saying outrageous things, baits him into controversial comments, and then pretends to offer a sincere apology to viewers for something they had to know was bound to happen:
Cable television network TNT issued an apology late Thursday for a comment made by “30 Rock” star Tracy Morgan about former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin during a live broadcast.
Morgan made a crude remark about the key Republicanâ€™s looks during an appearance Thursday on â€œInside the NBA.”
During a pre-game chat ahead of the Miami Heat-New York Knicks clash, co-host Charles Barkley asked the actor, â€œSarah Palinâ€™s good looking, isnâ€™t she?â€
Morgan replied, “Let me tell you something about Sarah Palin, she’s good masturbation material. The glasses and all of that… She is great masturbation material.”
No word yet on when MSNBC will apologize for Chris Matthews saying the same thing about Barack Obama on a nightly basis.
But really, in the realm of all the things that have been said on television about Sarah Palin that warranted an apology, this one is quite a ways down the list:
