Some news outlets and blogs are reporting something Tina Fey wrote in her book as admission that her Sarah Palin impression on SNL turned people off to such a degree that it hurt ratings for her other show, 30 Rock. If you read what she wrote, it’s apparent that Fey’s mocking the concept that her Palin impression hurt that show’s ratings (30 Rock’s ratings were actually up during the 2008 campaign season), but she did also have this:

“Let’s face it, between Alec Baldwin and me there is a certain fifty percent of the population who think we are pinko Commie monsters.”

Oh come on Tina… I don’t think you’re a pinko commie monster… very often.

However, I think Fey’s estimate of the percentage of people who might be inclined to think that way on any given day, in general, holds water.

By the way, Fey can mock the concept that her Palin impression hurt 30 Rock ratings, but she can’t mock the fact that Palin’s appearance on SNL boosted that show’s ratings.

Tina Fey wrote a 'book'!? Who knew!

Pains me to admit she's a dead ringer for my sister. Being a die-hard Lib, her speech patterns are of course, identical. Here 'you' think you're just having a pleasant 'conversation' and before you know it, you're being stereotyped, attacked and dismissed! The Patented "Stealth Character Assassination" (TM) It's what they do best.

( Suffice to say we don't 'talk' as often as we should? ) I see limited/graying mom roles in Ms. Fey's future. In which, we'll have ample reason to remember Mrs. Palin, and every reason to forget you.
