Great news! The person whose deficits look like this…

null

…is going to offer a plan to start getting America out of debt. If his plan doesn’t begin “Step 1: Resign from office” I won’t have much faith that he’s serious about deficit reduction:

With one budget fight behind him, President Barack Obama will offer a long-term plan for deficit reduction this week in preparation for bigger U.S. spending battles ahead, the White House said on Sunday.

Senior White House adviser David Plouffe said Obama would explore savings in defense spending and the popular Medicare and Medicaid health programs for the elderly and poor as he seeks ways to reduce the $1.4 trillion annual deficit.

Repeal the disastrous and expensive health care plan and reel back in the unspent stimulus money? Nevah!

Ten bucks says Team Obama’s deficit reduction plan involves spending more money. It has to — they don’t know how to do anything else.

Like Sheriff Joe said a couple of years ago — you have to spend money to keep from going bankrupt.

The unspent stimulus money of which you speak is only ‘unspent’ because Mao’s hard campaigning hasn’t started yet, nor have the Spring/Summer vacations.

"nor have the Spring/Summer vacations" ( Lol ) Man has a point there!

To be fair, and to be clear, it -did- become a necessity to print money to "paper over" the mess that AIG, Lehman and others made. To not have done so would have assured a Cross Default Scenario from which there would have been no recovery.

Had we stopped at TARP, we'd be on a path to a Non-Porkulus Recovery as we speak. ….. We're not. Not even close. But if we're going to get real about this, We Need To Let States FAIL! Just between the Dem-strong/strangle holds of CA, IL and NY, their Insolvency alone threatens to drag the rest of the system into chaos w/ each Re-set.

Kind of like trying to re-boot your computer when it is still very clearly virus-infected. Let States FAIL!

Wow. I feel so much better now. We're in such good hands. UGH! Is it just me or does it seem like the longest 2 1/2 years ever? I hope we can survive until the 2013 Inauguration of President (insert Republican candidate here).

"UGH! Is it just me or does it seem like the longest 2 1/2 years ever?"

VaGal, hands down. No question. It seems like it's been longer than my other 49 1/2 years prior COMBINED! If it helps, think of it 'this' way? McCain gets elected. Libs/Progs immediately declare him "Bush III". Prog Agenda continues to do nothing but GAIN momentum!

Economic malfesance started under Clinton and accelerated under GWB continues to worsen. Cries for McCain's resignation culminate in a deafening ROAR! Gub'mint 'employment' becomes the 'Standard' and virtually ALL of the unemployed on make-work programs fully convert into Progs, regardless of prior beliefs.

There IS no 2010 landslide. In fact, played out against Bush III ( Dems actually pick UP a few seats! ) Super Majority assured. Either Obama or Peter Frampton* elected in 2012. Socialist Final Solution, complete!

    *Explanation of Peter Frampton ref:

"In Wayne's World 2, Wayne Campbell alludes to the album's popularity by saying, "Everybody in the world has Frampton Comes Alive. If you lived in the suburbs you were issued it. It came in the mail with samples of Tide."

For those of us old enough to remember, the media-hype around this 1976 album was incredible. It 'was' ( in fact ) as if there WERE no other albums released that year! You couldn't get AWAY from it. Change radio stations and there it was AGAIN! "It stayed on the chart for 97 weeks and was still #14 on Billboard's 1977 year-end album chart."

( Now you can't delve into the "bargain bin" without finding at least [1] copy? ) In retrospect, none of us could figure out what created all that hype in the 'first' place? Can't wait to see Obie's Greatest 'Hits' in the bargain bin.

I couldn't see what drove its popularity either. There were a couple of songs I eventually learned to like, but to me it sounded like some guy making a bunch of random noises to get the crowd to cheer for him. I also realized that I would never let other people's opinions determine my taste in music.

    Mr. Powers at his funniest!

So, Obama is going to take one less golf trip this year and then say he's reduced the deficit by Washington standards…which means he is planning to continue adding on….trillions…so,…what is going to be his themesong this time?

"You are the World..You are the Children…You are the ones to make a brighter place so let's start giving…more…."

    Peter can sing it.

Right on! Can't tell you how often I've been told I "have to change w/ the times" etc. Why…, ( I just so 'happen' to like 3-chord Rock & Roll? )

My point, P' BO was/is/will always BE nothing more than a fad or "product". And no one more than HE is finding that out, right… about… now? Looking back on the mid-70's ( HS junior at the time ) when this album came out, Nam was just ending, the country was deeply divided and… the economy SUCKED bigtime!

Frampton offered a sickly-sweet brand of melodic pop that took people's MINDS off that, at least for awhile. Actually, his BEST work was as a guitarist for Humble Pie. Check out, "Rockin' The Fillmore" for a -much- better sampling of his abilites. IMHO.
