Is somebody worried about “Apocalypse YouBet’cha”?

George Will seems to think American voters are concerned that our nuclear arsenal could fall into the hands of… Sarah Palin:

“The threshold question, not usually asked, but it’s in everyone’s mind in a presidential election. ‘Should we give this person nuclear weapons?’ And the answer [in Palin's case], answers itself.”

“You know how chicks are… she’ll probably get upset with a Real Housewives of Atlanta episode and hit ‘the button’…”

This reminds me a bit of the elitists reaction to Reagan (“a doddering old fool with access to nukes? Nooo!”):

George Will is a conservative (usually), but he’s an Ivy League conservative, and as such he might have a tendency to think that anybody who didn’t go to Princeton, Harvard or Yale shouldn’t be trusted with anything more powerful than a Bic lighter.

Did George Will mention a similar concern in 2008 when a community organizer from Chicago was about to be handed the launch codes and subsequently disclose the size of the US nuke arsenal? No, because Obama’s smart — he went to Columbia and all.

In our government, there is no evidence to suggest that competence and common sense has anything to do with how many Ph.D’s, Beltway experience or “pinky sticking out while drinking champagne” charm school manners somebody has — to the contrary if anything.

I look forward to seeing her nuke the Democrats' political ambitions. Where that's concerned she is a nuclear weapon.

I am far more concerned about what terrorist groups are planning to do to us and our allies while the Coward / Liar-in-Chief is in office and his worse-than-lame response will be than I am about anything Sarah Cuda might do. The world as a whole will respect and perhaps fear us a bit AGAIN with her in office, knowing she isn`t afraid to respond appropriately !

    Great piece Mr. Powers!

Yeah, George has been an elitist for so long, he probably wouldn't know how to pump his own gas, let alone know who should be President. If you read his books, sometimes he right on, and sometimes he's so wrong, he could NEVER be right.

I'd trust Sarah over George any old day of the week, and every Sunday! Boy, I'd like her to become President just to watch that whole snobby bunch try to manage their coffee every week.

A better question might be ( what are we doing giving George Will 'access' to a COMPUTER!?!? )

Right, because we all know that Presidents make decisions like whether or not to deploy NUKES w/ the potential to End The World As We Know It based solely on individual 'intuition', whims, angst over family matters or parking tickets without so much as consulting The Joint Chiefs!

The 'concern' Will poses is almost as irrelevant as WILL himself! Shelf Life = Expired. Let's see… 49 out of 50 States INSOLVENT, O'Care to Repeal, Medicare on the brink.., yeah, I'm laying awake nights worried over 'this' BS?

Wow, must be well-to-do to enjoy such faux intellectual posturing huh?

People like George Will have an irractional fear (phobia) against anyone with hunting/outdoors experience.

They think anyone that hunts is first and formost stupid and unsophisticated. Hunters/outdoor types couldn't possibly present an scholarly paper full of footnotes and references to Orwell.

I think Palin causes men like Will to unconciously to double check their man card to make sure they have the tools to call themselves men.

Palin has hunted in the wild for BEAR!

Bears scare the buh-jeezus out of folks like Will, much less the thought of staring one down and holding a scope steady enough to shoot one through the old pump station.

Palin is in their minds a throwback to pioneer men, not women. She can hunt it, kill it, grill it, and eat it better than George Will can buy it at a 5 star restaurant. And he knows it.

Hey George they gave the keys to Obama with your blessing can it get any worse than that??…….. George is a Rovian Republican, the give away is how he (and others) always condem true Tea Party conservatives. He and Krauthammer will support any big government spending Republican RINO now matter what. It makes you wonder why we even give these guys the time of day…..

Are you assuming that any of us here actually give George and Charles "the time of day" ? I know I don`t…….for precisely the reason(s) you cite !
