Heh: Obama Tells Automakers They Need to ‘Understand the Market’

Kind of like Michael Moore telling you to work on trimming down your gut, isn’t it?

From The Hill:

The country’s automakers should ditch their focus on SUVs and trucks in favor of smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles, President Obama said Monday.

“You can’t just make money on SUVs and trucks,” Obama said during a town hall forum in Cannon Falls, Minn. “There is a place for SUVs and trucks, but as gas prices keep on going up, you have got to understand the market. People are going to try to save money.”

Just what the auto industry needs — a lecture on market savvy from the man who brought America the Volt and thinks ATMs are the reason unemployment is up.

In one sentence Obama admits SUVs and trucks are where the money is while insisting demand for them is dying? The car Obama should be selling is the Lexon Paradox.

Besides, why can’t you just make money on SUVs and trucks? And what business is it of his to tell a company what they can make money on? That one is simple: Because if you accepted money from the government you are now under their control:

“They are gaining market share for the first time in years, but what we said was, ‘If we are going to help you, then you have also got to change your ways,’” he said.

Add all this up and what do you get? “You’re gaining market share, but you’re not pushing the ‘green’ stuff that nobody wants but that nonetheless allows us to take over growing segments of the economy, so get to it!
