President Obama’s numbers are cratering with nearly every demographic, but the latest Gallup weekly tracking poll shows his approval dropping most steeply among Latinos. It portends poorly not only for the president, but for a Democratic coalition that increasingly depends on their strong support.

Obama’s support among Latinos dropped 20 points since his election, with only 47 percent of Latinos approving of his job performance, according to the poll. In 2008 Obama won 67 percent of the Latino vote.

With the nation’s Latino population booming and now the country’s largest minority group, the Obama administration’s top Hispanic official is concerned that the federal government is not giving enough attention to Hispanic history and culture.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar in the past year has pushed the National Park Service to identify more sites or properties related to the histories of women and minorities that could be added to the National Register of Historic Places or be preserved as national parks or historic landmarks.

“Less than 3 percent of all the national landmarks that we have — the highest designation you can receive as a historic landmark — are designated for women, Latinos, African Americans or other members of minority groups,” Salazar said in a meeting with reporters last week. “That tells you that the score is not even.”

“And the score won’t be back to even until Barack Obama is back to 70% Hispanic support!”

Obama’s also losing women and African Americans, and by next fall each and every one will have a state park named after them.

Yes, he was out today…saying how much the Latino's have given to this country. It was the very same speech he gave about the Muslims with one exception: He let it be known, that he was the first President to put Latino's in his cabinet and that Salazar's ancestor's had been HERE in the US for 400 years.

A nice way to give that Latino Revolution a little nudge. In other words…this is THEIR country to take back.

Who can keep up with or begin to understand poll numbers ? So many polling orgs and phraseologies to confuse the issue or make it say what is desired ! Good grief !

The one I find most interesting though concerns black support for the pRes. Where he once enjoyed 95ish%, he has fallen even among his most ardent supporters, down to only 80% as of Monday. No, before anyone asks, I don`t remember for sure, but I think it was Zogby ! Forgive me if that is wrong.

Most latinos are AGAINST illegal immigration, especially those who came here legally because most have not established themselves yet but are forced to compete for work against the poorest of the poor who will work under appalling conditions, low pay and the constant threat of being reported if they complain. La Raza only gained "respectability" when the Democrat and Republican leadership together with the National Chamber of Commerce decided to make them the voice of latinos. Just like Jesse Jackson was not selected by black Americans to speak for them but by the white elites, so too was La Raza selected by the white elites to speak for them.

Which hopefully is why the latest round of pandering will backfire.

Like naming some godforsaken mudhole at the end of a dusty trail ( that I'll never be able to AFFORD to visit! ) after some long dead latina I'm not even RELATED to is really helping me out Mr. El pResidente of North America.

So if this is up to La Raza to 'sell' to their base, good freaking luck w/ that.

Right, and FREE Coronas for ALL!

Gotta' say, bit of a misadventure in boozing lately. "The Bull". (1) Shot Tequila in Medium-sized glass. Pour in a 12 oz. beer. Garnish w/ a splash of lemonade. Wait two hours and call local law enforcement for backup.

( Embarrassing even by my standards? )

Most Americans don't seem to know that Cesar Chavez 's famous march from Sacramento to the border in 1969 was to protest illegal immigration.ésar_Ch&…

He definitely had communist leanings but much of what the Tea Party wants with border control is virtually identical to what Chavez was fighting for. The younger generation has no memory of this since they are the ones who are graduating illiterate from the public schools where Chavez' story has been revised to fit into the La Raza and Reconquista narrative.

It's a much more complicated story than what is told but it has been my experience that most latinos here hate illegal immigration more than the rest of the population who consider mowing their own lawns "Mexican work".

I'm good friends w/ a civil rights atty. here in Portland that cut his teeth working with Chavez back then. He is keen to point out how his movement had been hijacked and corrupted.

Save for a chance meeting ( at a Tea Party rally! ) I'd be in the dark as anyone else! My friend genuinely exerts himself making sure the record is straight. At his age.., God love him!

No surprise. This whole administration has been about "evening the score".

At the July 4 2009 Pasadena Tea Party rally I attended, maybe 25% of the crowd was white. I would say that close to half were latinos with Asians second. Most of the ones I spoke with were immigrants or like me, children of immigrants. We have a completely different view of American freedom than the illegals and their cultural elite enablers who have corrupted our entire society.

Such complaints and Latinos are dying to be in this country.

Apparently, Capt. Zero has lost a larger % of Latino support than any other group. Backfire !

Every time someone tells me about a really great TP event I always beat myself up for having missed that one! Phil, that had to be a great feeling. Makes me proud just HEARING about it!

Being a TP'r is more about having reached a certain threshold of BS you simply can't stomach going beyond. Being Fed UP knows no skin color. Enough is enough tends to be pretty universal.

  15. SignPainterGuy on October 13th, 2011 7:56 pm

"universal", yeah, but the significant difference is what you do about it. TPrs mount a "peaceful" demonstration that makes our points and creates new friendships while the left can`t seem to gather a handful of folks without something being destroyed, someone getting hurt and arrested and the place left looking like the city dump !
