A few months ago, Michelle Obama and her senior staff went to Africa, and what’s an international excursion of Hope & Change without offending some allies?

A British Royal Navy ship was ordered to turn its guns around because they were parked pointing at a hotel room Michelle Obama was staying in.

Fearing the First Lady might be in danger, minders ordered the captain of the HMS Edinburgh stationed in Cape Town, South Africa, to switch them away from her five-star suite.

The U.S. agents have since been accused of overreacting after it emerged the Sea Dart missiles were, in fact, loaded with blanks having been used during a ceremony in honour of a sailor who had died.

Former Royal Navy officer Mike Critchley told the Daily Mirror: ‘This is typical American Secret Service going over the top.

‘I would have thought that they could trust their British allies to not put a missile through the bedroom window of the First Lady. It is unfortunate that this happened at an extremely sad time for the ship.’

This was the scene:

Threatening indeed. Good call, Secret Service. You never know when the Brits are going to snap over that Churchill’s bust flap.

    Do it!

ETA: turn the guns, that is. What did you think I meant?

Perhaps the Secret Service was worried that the Brits thought MObama was going to tell them to stop eating Fish & Chips.

Are you sure that the Queen didn`t finally get the right adapter for the Obama I-Pod gift, and instead of finding lovely music, her ears were assaulted / accosted by Oblamer blathering ?!

"Turn those guns away from me! My ass is so big there's no way they could miss!"

    Prophetic, or subliminal message?

(Once her hubby is fired, she'll be out of a job lecturing fatties like herself.)

Some of the Fire Control Tech's over at MM might be better qualified to speak to this, and I haven't read the full article but I believe being In Port, those "missles" are training dummies. Just duds for the crew to get accustomed to positioning, training etc.

Missles are -expensive- and saltwater corrosion, well let's just say Rust Never Sleeps. Besides, at that close a range and w/ the very real potential of an horrific BLAST might just sink your own ship!

More Bammie=noia. Whatever happened to everyone being in their court "cheering" for them to stem the tide of rising seas" blah blah? This is how people that have seen their cheers turn to JEERS typically respond.
