Anthony Watts points out at his blog something more terrifying than finding out your New Year’s Eve designated driver is a Kennedy: Billions of people could die tonight.

As evidence, here’s an article from The Canadian that first appeared on January 8, 2007:

The science is settled… Gorebots are nuts.

Happy New Year to all of you who were lucky enough to somehow survive the great global warming induced pre-2012 semi-extinction of mankind!

With articles like that, I could die laughing.

    Whatta way to go !!

By `73, the claim was that, "If we didn`t do something drastic to reverse the effects of global cooling, in 15 years, we could see 30 ft. walls of ice at the Great Lakes!" Since then the biggest thing in the way of a drastic change I`ve noticed was switching to unleaded gas …. Who would have thought that nearly 40 years later, we`ve reversed the direction of climate change and still, billions of people could die from a hoax !

  4. backwoodsconsr on December 31st, 2011 9:37 pm

Which was the bigger hoax, global warming or Barack Obama?

  5. Pasadena Phil on December 31st, 2011 9:42 pm

Ted Turner has been arguing for years that the earth can only handle about 230 to 250 million people while railing about the current world population of over 7 billion. Why is he and the other "over-population" nuts so alarmed about global warming?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMd0mGlKDEw

Bill Gates is just as nutty on this and has even proposed a "vaccine" to reduce the world's population. Yeah, Hitler tried that too but found them lacking so he stepped it up to high-tech extermination factories complete with eco-friendly composting of the through-put at the end of the process. Hitler was concerned about the health of the planet, loved dogs as well as children so he couldn't have been all bad.

  6. SignPainterGuy on December 31st, 2011 9:44 pm

There ya go, askin` the tough questions ! ;-)

  7. backwoodsconsr on December 31st, 2011 9:52 pm

In that case I'd better find a real intellectual to ask these questions to. Have you seen Joe Biden lately?

  8. SignPainterGuy on December 31st, 2011 9:53 pm

If marrying Not Fonda Jane weren`t enough to prove Ted`s an idiot, that should do it !

Why isn`t it obvious to the gw idjits that a bit of warming would mean longer growing seasons for farm products and more oxygen and air filtration n stuff ?! Dumb as I am, I figured that out !

  9. clu seatoe on December 31st, 2011 9:57 pm

“55 million years ago a global warming chain reaction (probably started by volcanic activity) melted oceanic clathrates.”

Of course with the hot, dry winds blowing down from the high deserts of Southern California into the coastal areas of Los Angeles and Orange counties it could also have been children playing with matches.

Ergo, global warming is caused by babysitters not paying enough attention to their charges. Ergo, babysitters should unionize for better pay and benefits, but unions have been remiss in not organizing the babysitters.

Ergo, global warming can be blamed squarely on unions. Don’t give me no static about this, it’s pure science.

  10. SignPainterGuy on December 31st, 2011 9:58 pm

I think he`s busy asking Jon Corzine for advice on New Years resolutions and investment strategies !

  11. SignPainterGuy on December 31st, 2011 10:18 pm

Can`t argue with your logic, but come on clu, "clathrates" ? This is a family friendly blog ! Clean it up, would`ja ?

Unable… to… post….*@#&$%)… gasp choke spit froth GAG!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. clu seatoe on December 31st, 2011 10:33 pm

You’re given me bad Mojo, man. It was all in my dream catcher when I got up this morning.

  14. Marshall_Will on December 31st, 2011 10:36 pm

Right, and Ted's got lots o' money so that must mean he's a real smart guy so he should get to chose which ones get to stay and/or have children and whatnot? Did I get that correct?

Screw Gates too. Btw my "Windows 7" is a steaming PILE Billy boy. Seriously, all it is is a "consumer preference/predictive marketing tool. They've already "decided" what our future should look like so in spite of the Collapse of the Nasdaq in 2000, they've "determined" ALL consumption will be done ON-LINE. It's already been decided.

Then they'll begin taxing us by the blog post. We'll have fewer roads, fewer freedoms and fewer choices. ( But somehow higher taxes? ) Ideally they'd like to ship shizz to your house and just BILL you for it! What do you MEAN you're 'returning' them!? This fits your "online preference profile" perfectly!

    Stuff it. Kindly…

  15. SignPainterGuy on December 31st, 2011 10:44 pm

Dream catcher ? Pffffft, put up a cob web instead, they`re "self cleaning" ! ;-)

  16. SignPainterGuy on December 31st, 2011 10:53 pm

Ooops, and I just called in a pizza order ! I sure hope pizza ovens don`t increase GW …….. and I got breadsticks and extra marinara !

    I`ll have a slice in your memory, how`zat ? :-) HNY !

  17. clu seatoe on December 31st, 2011 10:54 pm

Oooo, bad karma, Kimosabee, bad karma. Better throw those bones again.

  18. backwoodsconsr on December 31st, 2011 11:51 pm

I'm going to be at work when the midnight hour strikes, so I'll go ahead and wish y'all a Happy New Year now. Try not to party too hard. I'll drop by in the morning to see how much of a mess you've made.

  19. SignPainterGuy on December 31st, 2011 11:57 pm

Good luck at work, be safe, and don`t come back till next year ! Have a Happy one !

  20. backwoodsconsr on January 1st, 2012 12:15 am

I saw from working last night that both the cops and the drunks will be out in full force this weekend. They were keeping each other company on the side of the road all night. I hope I don't have to be on the road much tonight. A slow, boring night will suit me just fine.

  21. SignPainterGuy on January 1st, 2012 12:28 am

Let them keep each other company !

I saw something I`ve never seen before on my drive home Tuesday; a speed cop pulled over a rollback wrecker !

Here`s to no excitement tonight ! Cheers !

  22. Marshall_Will on January 1st, 2012 1:15 am

Um… MRS. Will taking the helm from here on out. 3 parties to go! Have fun all!

  23. SignPainterGuy on January 1st, 2012 1:41 am

I actually meant the "no excitement" for bwc, but since Mrs. Will has taken the reins, excite away Buddy ! ;-)

  24. patti on January 1st, 2012 1:48 am

Hi SPG, sad to report, I haven't seen anything that looks like a bomb-shell over at Big G……I'll keep checking though.

    Happy New Year to everyone!

Doug, Marshall_Will,SignPainterGuy, backwoods, Phil ,clu and Granny

    Be safe…have a great night! ;-(

  25. SignPainterGuy on January 1st, 2012 2:01 am

    patti GeL,

Have yourself a Very Happy New Year ! Thanks for watching for the breaking revelatory news item, in vain though it was !

I look forward to the tidbits of interesting info and insights you have a delightful habit of sharing with us here and at MM`s place !

  26. backwoodsconsr on January 1st, 2012 11:43 am

Happy to report a nice, dull night. I had to go get one crew from the hotel and that was at 5:00 AM, long after the bars had closed. One of the road drivers came in and told me he was in Atlanta when the bars closed and the highways looked like rush hour.

  27. rbreslin on January 1st, 2012 2:48 pm

    Happy New Year to all!

  28. archer52 on January 1st, 2012 2:48 pm

    Doug,
Did you see the article about the Japanese satellite that was sent up to map CO2 output across the globe? Much to the surprise and dismay of the Japanese, the results showed that the net users ( the CO2 levels were shrinking) were 1st world nations like ours and Europe and the 3rd World countries were expelling the gas. I saw it and posted at my website http://www.truthandcommonsense.com. The look on the face of the scientist trying to explain this revelation to GL people was priceless. He probably left the stage and committed Hara-kiri right there!

Very little reporting was done on the report. As you have reported, this whole deal is about controlling populations and transferring your wealth to others through the power of governments and elites. We don't have to look any farther than Gore and Soro's carbon credit market boondoggle to prove the point.

    Shameless.

  29. SignPainterGuy on January 1st, 2012 3:34 pm

Only because it was work-time for you, I`m glad it was dull !

I sat here and scoured the interwebs myself and avoided the roads. Stepped out onto the front porch to listen to the mill whistles and fireworks (the economy must have put a pinch on the neighbors` buying, they were pretty chincy, but one explosion was incredible ! Huge, deep sounding and echoed several times around the hills !

Not one police-, fire- or ambulance-siren ! Goooood !

  30. SignPainterGuy on January 1st, 2012 3:35 pm

    10 months, 5 days to go !!

  31. backwoodsconsr on January 1st, 2012 5:29 pm

I was surprised by how much fireworks I saw going off, considering that the area around the railyard is one of the poorer neighborhoods. I couldn't have afforded a big display, but people all around there were setting off all kinds of stuff. The one thing that did concern me was that some of the racket I heard sounded way too much like gunfire, fortunately not close enough to make me duck for cover. It sounded like somebody here and there just emptying a magazine into the air as a way of making racket. It occurred to me that if you wanted to get rid of somebody without atttacting too much attention, New Year's Eve might be just the time to do it.

  32. backwoodsconsr on January 1st, 2012 6:17 pm

    It's like waiting for Christmas.

  33. joyannaadams on January 1st, 2012 7:12 pm

And now, global cooling is caused by global warming…and Newt took his opinions on Global Warming out of his upcoming book…which was no doubt written in 2007.

Yes…we are all still here! How glorious is that?

Ted Turner: Eat my global warming snowcone and go save the planet somewhere else….like…The North Pole. The Polar Bears need you.

    Happy New Year to all!

  34. backwoodsconsr on January 1st, 2012 7:17 pm

It's going to be cold in the Deep South for about the next three days. I'd like to see some warming.

  35. SignPainterGuy on January 1st, 2012 8:07 pm

Yes it is ! I have a feeling it`s gonna be like sitting on the edge of the seat the whole time !

    BTW, I just noticed it`s 3 and 39 to go ! "Jabber Fingers" ! ;-)

  36. SignPainterGuy on January 1st, 2012 8:19 pm

Back in the `80s I used to drive my parents to Knoxville,TN so they could save $100s on plane tickets to spend Christmas w/ my Sister in MN. Once, when I picked them up, it was 24° and spitting blue snow. I was cold and just knew Mom would be chilled to the bone, but she came out of the terminal door with her coat open. I soon learned that it seemed rather balmy to them; it was -24° when they left MN; a 48° warmup for them !

  37. backwoodsconsr on January 1st, 2012 8:30 pm

Remind me again why global warming would be such a bad thing. I keep forgetting.

  38. SignPainterGuy on January 1st, 2012 8:56 pm

Let`s see; I`d have to mow the yard earlier and later in the year, probably get to leave my longjohns in the drawer for a longer time; maybe have to buy bug spray more often, but then there`d be more birds to watch, oops, that means more birdseed ….. and another feeder …… yep, sounds terrible ! NOOOOOT !

  39. swede on January 1st, 2012 9:39 pm

"Yes…we are all still here! How glorious is that?"

Well, I I must be here, I sure ain't in heaven. Obogus is stil POTUS. But that can and will change. That would be heavenly.
