At least I have something in common with Charlie Rangel:

President Obama’s fund-raising tour of New York was highlighted by a few funny moments — including Rep. Charlie Rangel falling asleep during his speech, and the president proclaiming he preferred Showtime’s “Homeland” to the Republican debates.

Obama raced through the city on Thursday, appearing at two events at Upper East Side restaurant Daniel, then at a dinner for 40 at Spike Lee’s townhouse, followed by a fundraiser at the Apollo.

A witness tells us Rangel “passed out” at his table at the Harlem venue’s “A Night to Remember” event and, “His wife Alma was shaking him to wake him during the president’s speech.” A rep for Rangel denied he fell asleep.

Believe it or not, Chollie’s snooze had nothing to do with Obama. It’s tax season, so Rangel always hibernates at this time of year.

Whales hibernate ?! Who knew !?

I just saw Mr. Rangel on Larry Kudlow from Friday. He was talking about the dignity of Congress. What a load, there is no dignity in Congress as long as this tax cheat holds a seat.

    Hahahaha!

Truly… "A Night to Remember"! Lol ( If only I 'could' remember? )

Man, for a guy that fully intended throttling back for awhile, Doug sure is bringin' the posts Fast & Furious!

Too many free dranks Chollie? The only thing worse than a stone alkie is being stuck w/ one that's every bit the worst drunk in the room ( but never seems to pony up for a round? ) Great work Rangel, it's what we've come to expect.

Still, like SJL, this is a sign Teh Wun hasn't a Chinaman's chance. IMHO, this was wholly intentional.

I can see how having to sit through one of Obama's speeches could drive a man to drink. If he managed to sleep through the speech, then he was the lucky one!

I guess writing all those finance laws he ignores is tuff work; a man`s gotta catch those all important Zs whenever he can ! He`s got the treasury to loot after all !

The event was thrown by UBS’s Robert Wolf, Aryeh Bourkoff, Dr. Daniel Fass, and Jeremy Goldberg.

Well, well, the 1% supporting the president of the 99% and the pedophile and misogynistic islamophiles. But wait, something’s wrong with this picture! Apostates still abound.

Oh, my, Mossad better not open that can of worms or they’ll be fighting their own. Meet me at Gibraltar and we’ll duke it out.

Wasn`t there a pirate movie or something with that line in it; "Them that sleeps will be the lucky ones !" ?

  9. backwoodsconsr on January 22nd, 2012 8:11 pm

Beats me. I don't pirate movies.

    I don't pirate movies.

Missing verb alert! Fractured syntax! Oh the humanity!

    Sorry. Payback gotcha. :-)

  11. backwoodsconsr on January 22nd, 2012 8:45 pm

Pirate is a verb, except when it's a noun. You've got me on one thing. I have no idea what a syntax is, unless it's a tax on such things as alcohol, tobacco and condoms.

Niners ?? Didn`t Bite Me Biden declare that the "Giants" were going to the SB ??

Cautious not to drag -Doug- into Adler's fray ( what Israeli Gov't can sit on their hands while O'Bowmao legislates them out of existence ) without even having contemplated the consequences or considered the possibilities?

They probably have had a standard scenario for ALL our Presidents. You have to play out all the hands. See where it might lead? And not just U.S leaders either. Our DOD has scenarios that cover everything from polar inversions to unimaginable doomsday events. What's the big deal? Everyone has a right to defend themselves! Thanks Clu, great link.

Joe was right! Someday we will see this in an "On this day in history…" column. "Joe Biden was right about something, sort of."

    Not yet.

Rest assured, bewilderment will come ! ;-)

  21. Pasadena Phil on January 23rd, 2012 12:35 am

That's the genius of Biden. If the Giants win, he predicted it. He specifically said Giants so case closed. If the Niners win, he predicted it because everyone knows he meant the Niners but misspoke. He pays a price for his gaffes but in this case, he can't lose.

  22. SignPainterGuy on January 23rd, 2012 12:45 am

He may not be right, but he ain`t never wrong ! How convenient !

Obama picked a great insurance policy !

  23. Marshall_Will on January 23rd, 2012 1:21 am

Maybe Sheriff Joe was talkin' bout the World Series! Don't rule that out either?

  24. Pasadena Phil on January 23rd, 2012 1:37 am

Sheriff called it! Giants win! How does he do it?

Rangle is a world-class turd. And like Sheila Jackson Lee, he helps tip the IQ balance in Congress into the double digits.

  29. backwoodsconsr on January 23rd, 2012 10:47 am

Maybe we can get Joe to tell us when the Cubs will win the World Series.

  30. SignPainterGuy on January 23rd, 2012 1:54 pm

I think that`s more of a near-miss astronomical event; "When will the Cubs 'come close' to the World Series ?"
