Army Orders Soldiers to Wear ‘Pregnancy Simulators’

CAMP ZAMA, Japan – The Army is ordering its hardened combat veterans to wear fake breasts and empathy bellies so they can better understand how pregnant soldiers feel during physical training.

This week, 14 noncommissioned officers at Camp Zama took turns wearing the “pregnancy simulators” as they stretched, twisted and exercised during a three-day class that teaches them to serve as fitness instructors for pregnant soldiers and new mothers.

Army enlisted leaders all over the world are being ordered to take the Pregnancy Postpartum Physical Training Exercise Leaders Course, or PPPT, according to U.S. Army Medical Activity Japan health promotion educator Jana York.

    This sounds like it is all part of the downsizing plan. I saw in the Army Times yesterday that they are planning forced retirements, making it tougher to re-enlist and forced change of MOS's (jobs in the military) to reduce the size of the military. They are having to resort to such tactics as re-enlistment rates remain high, due in large part to the lack of jobs in the private sector.

    We used to say if you want to win a war all you need to do is gather a battalion of women and force them to live in close proximity until their cycles sync with each other. Then all you have to do is wait for them to be PMSing and tell them that the enemy has their Midol and turn them loose….

    There are fewer and fewer private sector jobs because of regs and the crappy economy and a shrinking military; the government doles will be overwhelmed in short order !

    Um… am I missing something here? Shouldn't those sim's be worn be a gender more likely to actually become pregnant?

    Wouldn't that be more beneficial? Among the gals in our Guard unit, most are back up and it w/ PT within (3) mos. of delivering! So good on them. The guy wearing the simulator looked like it wasn't necessary. Downsizing indeed Truesoldier.

    I'm waiting for the day when we wake up…and find out that our military has been "outsourced" to the Chinese.

    I'm with you Misscheryl…mental.

    It never DAWNS of course on our "big" minds in the Pentagon that men have more muscles to carry around a pregnant suit, so they really have no clue how it feels to not have all that upper body strength. They probably feel like they had a few too many beers.

    Did Hillary put this in?
