In the public education system, the United States spends over $10,000 per pupil per year. Where does it all go? I don’t know, but based on some of these responses, it’s easy to see where it doesn’t go.

I lasted almost (2) minutes of Idiocracy on Parade. Top that!

Probably had to gain access to the school under false pretenses. PEU's aren't keen on having their little facades exposed. Can we DISBAND the D of E already?

  2. Misscheryl on February 20th, 2012 5:41 pm

me too. Actually I work at an institution of "higher learning." I know from personal experience, that's an oxymoron.

  3. SignPainterGuy on February 20th, 2012 6:05 pm

    In a word; DISGUSTING !!

A great ad for Home Schooling or School Vouchers !

  4. Patriot on February 20th, 2012 7:22 pm

"Idiocracy" was sadly prophetic. And they actually even understated it for the movie, apparently. This is how we wind up with prog socialists like Obama, Jarret, Ayers, Piven, Soros, et al gaining strength and thriving in this once strong country.

  5. Marshall_Will on February 20th, 2012 7:37 pm

    Oh… 'bonus' video!

I'm actually attending a military school right now and there are times when the instructor can put any one of us on the spot by blindsiding you w/ a question right out of left field.

But the questions posed to these teens were hardly of a trade specific, memorization nature? Also shows as students, they never discuss anything remotely school related outside the class. I'll take it that was in WA state, not that the other 49 are any better?

  6. backwoodsconsr on February 20th, 2012 8:09 pm

Damn! Not one of those kids knew that there are 57 states. Even Obama can't teach them anything.

  7. Misscheryl on February 20th, 2012 8:13 pm

I had a "discussion" with a woman who's son teaches in public school. I made a comment about the state of education these days and she said what I expected her to say. The typical teacher's union mantra – it's the parents fault. I told her I've never known a parent yet who didn't care about their child's education enough to hand them over to the teacher's union. Blaming the parent's is just another tactic of the department of education to take total control of our kids. I then told her I didn't care if none of the parents cared about their kids, it isn't, ultimately the responsibility of the teachers, principals, school boards or the department of education to have authority of our kids – period!!! That simply doesn't fly with me anymore – it's the parents fault. pppffffttttt. It's obvious that parents are viewed as the enemy by the teacher's union. It's obvious when you listen to teachers talk about "the parents." The department of education needs to be disbanded or drastically cut back and their power stripped.

We get the same thing here in NC, PLUS the money mantra ! There`s never enough, we need more, blah, blah, blah ! They never, however, seem to realize that the state`s general assembly (house of reps and senate) steal ed. money from taxes levied for schools as well as money from the "Education Lottery" that was instituted for the express purpose of funding ed. as a supplement to the other taxes. No, now the lottery is the primary ed. funding service.

Oh, the lottery has never performed as promised, just as predicted overwhelmingly by the state`s voters who twice voted NO to a state lottery. We got one crammed down our throats anyway !

I used to hire the kids that worked at the marina I worked at several years ago. We had one or two that were really good workers…. the rest – ahhhh not so good. If they went for their 15 min break or lunch hour you had to re-train them when they came back. Dumber than a box of rocks – yet they were all "academic geniuses" according the their report cards.

I completely blame this on teachers. When my kids went to school it was "determined" that home work was just too stressful for the kids because so many of them were involved in extra curricular programs, sports, etc. I say BS – it was just too inconvenient for teachers to deal with a few who didn't do their homework. I remember numerous nights sitting at the kitchen table doing homework and then turning in the assignments, getting quizzed or tested the next day, etc. I never hear kids complaining about homework these days. No wonder they are so dumbed down. Nothing is being taught so nothing is being learned.

    Q: Who`s the VP ?
    A: George Bush!
A: The bald guy, Bill Clinton !

Q: Can you name all the countries that border the US ?
    A: South America !

Q: Can you name a country that begins with the letter "U" ?
    A: Utopia !

I`m feeling really geniousish about now ! ;-)

BTW, I`ve watched this all the way through, twice ! I be feelin` so smort !

  11. backwoodsconsr on February 20th, 2012 9:34 pm

I didn't understand until I was grown that one of the main purposes of homework is to practice using the knowledge just gained. The more experience a person has using something, the better they know it and remember it. When I was in school I didn't understand all that and didn't need to. It was enough to know I had to do it.

  12. backwoodsconsr on February 20th, 2012 9:48 pm

I watched it all the way through, but once was enough. The stupidity was entertaining to some extent.

The Democrats are raising their future voters to be well qualified to further the liberal cause.

  13. SignPainterGuy on February 20th, 2012 10:22 pm

It was somewhere else I saw it before; I paid a little more attention this time, probably more than they do in class ! Hopefully, they`re missing an equal amount of the BS the teachers are shoveling !

Yeah, these young ijits are gonna fall for any liberal nonsense that comes down the pike !

  14. SignPainterGuy on February 20th, 2012 10:42 pm

I`ll `splain it one more time; Obrainless believes there are "60 states" in the USA !
Remember, he said, "I`ve been to 57 states so far with one left to go. They won`t let me go to Alaska or Hawaii." 57 + one to go + Alaska and Hawaii = 60 !

I just want my friends to be right, even if it isn`t as funny as "57 states" !

To be honest, I`m almost amazed he doesn`t think Guam and Peurto Rico are US states !

  15. backwoodsconsr on February 20th, 2012 10:45 pm

But 57 is so easy to remember, and the liberals we're trying to get our points across to aren't bright enough to remember anything complicated.

  16. Marshall_Will on February 20th, 2012 10:47 pm

    Misscheryl,

The way we should approach that when confronting the "foot soldiers of the Progressive movement" is to simply say… "Well how were ORPHANS educated in the past!?"

In business, science, athletics and the arts, the link wouldn't FIT in the PTB blog format! Further straw argument: "The parents" ( by this late stage in the Prog transformation ) are hardly old school hard @$$es! In fact, now in their 20's and 30's, they're more a product of YOUR education programs!

So that only dumps right back in their lap. What else ya' got?

  17. Marshall_Will on February 20th, 2012 10:50 pm

Hopefully. Chances are Prog Doctrine is the one 'topic' they might actually test well in? Every one of us had subjects we just didn't care for, were forced to take and likely didn't do all that well in.

These kids don't do well in anything!

  18. backwoodsconsr on February 20th, 2012 10:55 pm

I think you'll have about as much success with your not 57 campaign as I did trying to get people to understand that the year 2000 was not the start of the new millenium. The odometer effect is powerful.

  19. backwoodsconsr on February 20th, 2012 11:02 pm

We could replace most members of Congress with those kids and wouldn't notice the difference.

  20. SignPainterGuy on February 20th, 2012 11:54 pm

It`s engrained now anyway, so you`re right !

You should see a lib`s face when I explain it ! And when I add that maybe Obozo was thinking of the 57 states of islam ….. well, I do know when it`s time to take cover !

  21. SignPainterGuy on February 20th, 2012 11:57 pm

But, but, why did the phone callers asking me what I planned to do for my biz to counter the millennium bug, call in 1999 ? Huh ? They wouldn`t have been wrong … twice… would they ? ;-)

  22. backwoodsconsr on February 21st, 2012 12:01 am

If they're liberals twice would mean they haven't said much yet.

[...] How it is looked at, kind of funny or a sad video on asking school kids basic history questions and them not being able to answer correctly. Also mentioned is for the last 4 decades we have assumed greater spending on education would result in higher grades from students. Saddest of all, test scores have remained flat during this time. The extra spending did not produce results. "Video Evidence That Our Education Dollars are Well Spent" Video Evidence That Our Education Dollars are Well Spent : The Powers That Be [...]

Today's public education curriculum is much more complicated than it was fifty or even twenty-five years ago. Every year brings new things that educators feel are important enough to add to the curriculum. Teachers have to teach twice as much in the same amount of time.

To my mind during the last couple of centuries many changes have been made in a scientific field of our life. Nowadays the optimism of students who look for paper writers for hire for the first time or on a regular basis can make them think in alternative way and meaning. But there are things that keep being an open question for me as well as for any educated man or woman in united states.
