FLOTUS on Vacation Again: Spot the Sarcasm

The British press is mocking our First Family’s vacation habits again. This headline about the 16th extended vacation in three years comes from the UK Daily Mail:

The president himself didn’t go with the rest of his family. I don’t know why not… he had no public schedule all weekend, and today’s agenda isn’t exactly overflowing either:

Bush often got slammed for the amount of time he spent in Crawford, Texas, but at least that was at his own house and the amount of taxpayer expense was kept to a minimum as a result. Also, Bush never went on vacations after calling for “shared sacrifice” from the rest of us peons.

Also, imagine if Laura Bush had been staying at five-star resorts around the world on the taxpayer dime without the president there. Now imagine Laura did so not long after telling Americans they might have to give up some of their pie so others can have more.

The mockery and criticism of FLOTUS & POTUS when it comes to these trips isn’t about politics or what past presidents’ families have done as far as time away from the White House — it’s about the optics and hypocrisy of the Obamas’ words vs. their actions.

    I wonder if Mooch has ever heard of a "stay-cation" ?

    What with all the fundraisers, how can a pRez. have time for any public appointments ?

    Ah… nothing like getting a 'jump' on Spring Break is there!

    Good to see the girls are keeping up on their studies as well. Private tutors in tow? It's like Moochelle is grooming them to fill Imelda Marcos' shoes.

    Look at their lives, look at the presidency, look at all the unelected officials running the country, the economy, and the continued attempts at unconstitutionality.

    Surely by now you realize these people don’t give a damn what the public thinks.

    It's a sort of stealth stimulus project for resort areas(and the overseas trips are stealth foreign aid).

    Just more material for the summer and fall campaign ads against Obama. Now will the GOP use this? Somehow, I think probably not.
