BBC2 is airing a show entitled “Modern Spies.” One of the episodes alleges that the Russian spy Anna Chapman had her sights set on an Obama cabinet member:

Another revelation in the series is the real reason why the FBI swooped on Russian spy Anna Chapman in 2010. Top officials feared the glamorous Russian agent wanted to seduce one of US President Barack Obama’s inner circle. Frank Figliuzzi, the FBI’s head of counterintelligence, reveals how she got “closer and closer to higher and higher ranking leadership… she got close enough to disturb us”.

The fear that Chapman would compromise a senior US official in a “honey trap” was a key reason for the arrest and deportation of the Russian spy ring of 10 people, of which she was a part, in 2010. “We were becoming very concerned,” he says. “They were getting close enough to a sitting US cabinet member that we thought we could no longer allow this to continue.” Mr Figliuzzi refuses to name the individual who was being targeted.

It could be not entirely true, but still, just for kicks, let’s consider which Obama cabinet official was targeted by the Russian seductress. My money’s on J-Nap.

We can rule out Steven Chu. Hot chicks — even spies — never go for guys who don’t have their own car.

Update: The FBI denies the hot chick spy was edging close to the White House to seduce a cabinet member.

J-Nap just released the following statement: “Dammit!”

If we have to limit it to just the official cabinet (i.e not include the Czars) then my money would be on Timmy Geithner. Remeber Chapman had an upscale place in NYC and Geithner was chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Not to mention that we have seen just how quick he is willing to turn a favor to previous employer Goldman Sachs.

The runner up choice would have to be Hillary. Again, Hillary was in NYC prior to joing team Obama and we all know how she likes to live dangerously by dodging sniper fire in Bosnia..

I'd think if Anna Chapman had been hanging around Hillary more… then we'd have seen Bubba hanging around Hillary more.

I would not be surprised to see a cabinet level resignation coming soon as this is just too much fodder for the GOP to use against Obama. Whomever this is has been comprimised and could no longer maintain a security clearance (at least in a sane world).

Makes you wonder if this has anything to do with the "flexibility" Obama wanted Medvedev to transmit to Vladmir?

Just did a quick check and I wonder if it was Peter Orszag, the former WH Budget director. He resigned in July 2010. Anna Chapman was arrested in June of 2010.

If so then we can expect the press to point out that he was the head of the CBO for the last two years of the Bush admin.

I nominate Eric Holder. Look at the power he wields at DOJ.

I would suggest that the choice candidate for the Russian "honey trap" was wimpy Salazar, twit in charge of the Dept of Interior.

So you're saying that J-Nap is of the Coulter persuasion? Is she dating Matt Drudge too?

    I think it's all lies.
The Obama administration and the Putin Russia are ideological soul mates. Why resort to spying or extortion if you're getting what you want?

  11. Truesoldier__ on April 4th, 2012 1:22 pm

Perhaps because the Russians felt it was too easy to be true.

Obama to Putin: Will you still respect me in the morning?

Putin to Obama: What do you mean will I still respect you in the morning? I don't respect you now.

Putin whispering to aide: It`s so hard not to bust out laughing at this moron !

Russia is historically paranoid; they have been invaded throughout history, so who could blame them ? Ideologically, they must steal info and technology because, if a Russian invents better ways of doing things, he is in effect saying, "The old ways aren`t good enough !" and risks punishment !

Putin to Obama: What do you mean will I still respect you in the morning? I don't respect you now.It is true.
