Somebody at NATO Needs a Geography Lesson

One of the geography whizzes in the Obama administration must have had a hand in producing a new video from NATO promoting the upcoming summit in the host city, because Chicago is billed as the capital of Illinois:

“More than 60 heads of state and government will meet to discuss crucial matters of security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area,” a narrator’s voice says as the five-minute video plays panning shots of Chicago. “And so, the leaders of the member nations of the organization created by the 1949 Washington Treaty will meet in the capital of Illinois this time.”

Of all the capitals in all the 57 states, NATO had to pick the wrong one.

The NATO video was fraught with errors, but for my money this is by far the funniest part:

“Al Capone made the city notorious,” the narrator says near the end of the video, “but today, it is clear that the gangsters’ days are over, and Chicago is rich in resources thanks in particular to the trans-Atlantic links.

Hahahaha! Those NATO folks are hilarious.

    What ? The biggest, most powerful city in a state ISN`T the capital ? Who knew ?

    And let`s give NATO a break, after all, the days of the gangsters of Al Capone`s era ARE over, right ? Now they`re called "banksters" and "politicians" and NBPP and SEIU and ….. !

    I remember being in Portland, the capital of Oregon before moving by Seattle, the capital of Washington.

    Any word on making New York the capital of the US (again)?

    Or even NY state ? How `bout Philly ?

    As I`m sure you are aware, while we were only 13 colonies / states, the capital moved around and settled in the then central location of DC. The idea now is to move it once again to the center of the nation, for obvious safety reasons as well as to leave much of the corruption behind ! How neat would that be ?

    Yep… Philadelphia, New York, among others…

    I've often thought that it'd be good to re-name it as well. I'd rather not disgrace President Washington by having such a cesspool of people (R and D) be able to use his name as the place where they do business.

    Where to move it?
    Liberal, KS?

    However, I think they'll move the corruption there first, so the people that move there won't get shocked when they arrive. It's up to us to get the corruption out. Vote Tea Party, and keep them accountable. They should be able to account for every vote they make.

    I think it was just a typo… they left out a word. It should have said:

    "…and so the leaders of the member nations… will meet in the thug capital of Illinois this time."

    Any State Capitol that didn't immediately and forcefully apply for Sanctuary City status lost their charter. It's in the Progstituion.
