He just can’t help himself:

“For the first time in nine years, Americans are not fighting and dying in Iraq,” Obama said. “We are winding down the war in Afghanistan and our troops will continue to come home. After a decade under the dark cloud of war, we can see the light of a new day on the horizon. Especially for those who’ve lost a loved one, this chapter will remain open long after the guns have fallen silent.”

Full transcript here.

On the topic of veterans, the latest Gallup poll found that vets favor Romney over Obama 58 percent to 34 percent. This will be the first presidential election since 1944 where neither candidate has a military background.

Meanwhile, far left loons weighed in and kept it classy — none of which was unexpected. And then there’s this idiot. By the way, these aren’t Republicans. Maybe that would help explain the above poll a little bit.

Update:

This is rich. Yesterday the President said “some Americans turned their backs” on returning Vietnam soldiers. Yeah, we know.

A deliberate and willful attempt to ignore and/or rewrite documented history. Those misogynistic islamic pedophiliacs have been fighting and killing since the seventh century.

There is so much bitterness, jealousy, and hate in their religion of perpetual anger that left to themselves and without intervention; they’re incapable of silencing their guns.

Speaking of winding down wars, the death toll in Chicago over the weekend was 10, with another 30 or so wounded; apparently Chicago gang bangers haven't gotten word of the cease fire yet. Interesting trivia question – since the start of the Afghan War, have more Americans been killed by gunfire in Chicago or Afghanistan?

At least in terms of U.S Casualties, I know the Mexican border dwarfs both Iraq and Afghanistan. But as is the case w/ gang violence in Chicago, apparently that isn't a problem.

Paul Harvey told a story about how the Home Invasion rate dropped to near zero after the suburb of Chicago required gun ownership in all homes (I think in the late `70s). I have to wonder how different gun crime rates would be if Chicago reversed their anti-legal-gun-ownership stance so that law-abiders could protect themselves and their property !?

Chicago is proving right the old adage; "When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns" !

MOTUS takes on the whole phony, election year, 50th Anniversary of Vietnam War issue congress created back in 2008. Politicians have no shame.
