If a Republican were in the Oval Office, would the MSM still be using the term “economic recovery” in their stories? They assume a lot, but only because Obama is in office. There’s every indication that if there was a recovery, it was brief and weak, and that we’re back on the economic downslide. Damn you, Bush!

Maybe Team Romney will incorporate Pelley into one of their ads. They did it with Bob Schieffer.

The media was always harping about how bad the economy was under Bush. 5% unemployment was terrible!

No doubt calculations were made in light of the recent media trustworthiness surveys, that truth -would- need to be told periodically to retain what little 'trust' is left.

They'll need these rare incidents of candor so when they're fullblown in the tank down the homestretch it can be referred to as 'proof' they're not puppets.

It is either that or they are just more drowning rats jumping off the sinking ship. Notice how they said worst "economic recovery". This is still spin, just to a lesser degree. This way if Romney wins in thwy will start in with the stories of "economic collapse" starting the day after innaguartion day. In other words, they will say it was bad under Obama, but Romeny made it worse.

Right, already laying the groundwork for the inevitable 180 *when* Romney takes office. Anyone working that closely w/ the WH has GOT to know what the real polls look like. And it ain't good.

So they demand to know where they stand if they're going to effectively spin it for them. You know, ramping up for the big 2016 'Comeback'. But they're hedging against the pResident as well.

Exactly. In their minds the "movement" is bigger than one man.

"….the WH has GOT to know what the real polls look like." They DO ! I have believed that PPP (Public Policy Polling), left-leaning, but usually accurate, is their "in-house" (whatever the term is) polling co. They call me every other month or so. I always participate, tell the truth, which is what they really don`t want !

Sorry to hear you're getting calls that often. Not to take others off task but these operatives are SELLING too! Just not aluminum siding.

Pandering voters into compliance via the LOST treaty or other billion dollar big ticket items like oh… ObieCare evidently doesn't constitute 'selling'?

Anyway, they're in full retreat mode and as Progs have done numerous times past, they'll hibernate until the next big leap forward can be deployed.

So true. They will wait till the public forgets and then try again. Each time it is taking less and less time for the public to forget.

We had an economic recovery? When did that happen?

  10. Marshall_Will on July 18th, 2012 3:35 pm

And less and less GROUND for them to re-take as each successive cycle passes. This time they'll have the precedent of some iteration of nationalized HC in the old hip pocket.

"Remember how good it felt back in '08 when just about anything was possible? When gov-provided HC and not having to work was almost in our grasp!? Well we've got a NEW messiah and this time…"

Never fear! Teh Won has said that if something he tries doesn't work, he doesn't try it again. So, since the "Stimulus" obviously didn't work…

  12. Truesoldier__ on July 18th, 2012 6:34 pm

Of course it worked. He stimulated the coffers of his donors to donate back to him.
