Apparently even Obama isn’t leftist enough for Sean Penn, who had to head south to find a candidate worthy of supporting in the upcoming election:

U.S. actor Sean Penn joined President Hugo Chavez at an election rally in Venezuela on Sunday, bringing a dash of Hollywood to the campaign as he rode with him atop a truck past cheering supporters.

Penn is a friend of Chavez, who hopes to win a new six-year term on October 7. The campaign has turned into the toughest fight of the president’s political career.

“Thank you very much for visiting us again, dear friend,” Chavez said after introducing Penn to the big crowd in the central city of Valencia. “We’re all Americans, from the north, the center, the south. Long live the American continent!”

Penn then headed back to the safety of a country that for the most part has avoided practicing what he preaches.

Look, Hugo has a new parrot:

Some idiots just aren't that useful.

    Dex,

The "cross-branding" we're seeing here is the attempt to bring banana republic, strong-arm politics to the U.S. Penn can't even tell you (1) of Chauvez' policies. It doesn't matter!

Just like the liberal idiots who run around in the Che Gueverro t-shirts. When you ask them who Che is, they tell you he was that guy in that movie……

I always wondered if it was Sean`s communism that caused Robin Wright to cut a trail on him !?

  6. Marshall_Will on August 7th, 2012 2:35 pm

According to http://www.thepeoplescube.com Che` should in fact be remembered as The World's Greatest T-shirt Salesman!

Penn would of course assert that "he's his own man and there's no one's pulling his strings" but why such a high profile dictator? Aren't there legions of great examples around the globe of genuine opression, and legitimate struggle he can latch on to?

Notice how uncomfortable he even IS around Hugo!? That's the most awkward 'hug' in the history of fake hugs. And what's he doing with my grandmother's prescription sunglasses..?

Penn is a publicity hound. Remember when he went down to Lousiana during Katrina to go rescue people? He bought a cheap boat that sprung a leak and he had to be rescued himself. He is just another has been actor that wants to try to releive the glory days.

  8. Marshall_Will on August 7th, 2012 2:54 pm

That was some funny azz footage! He looked more tinkerbell than boatswain. Had an oar more suited for a viking ship than an 8' foot dingy. ( Who says rednecks got no sense of humor? )

And who are you going to 'rescue' w/ an 8-footer anyway, a cat in a tree? Assuming you're right, what glory days are we referring to?

  9. jeffythequick on August 7th, 2012 3:36 pm

That is pretty sad that he has to campaign for a guy that is so loved by the masses in Venezuela…

  10. SignPainterGuy on August 7th, 2012 3:41 pm

    "What glory days" indeed.

  11. SignPainterGuy on August 7th, 2012 3:44 pm

Has Sean pulled an Alex Baldwin and threatened "to leave the country IF ……" ? And if so, has he been swamped with offers to "Help him pack" ?

  12. Truesoldier__ on August 7th, 2012 4:03 pm

Fast Times at Ridgemont High…That is about the only movie I can think of where he played a memorable charachter. Of course it was easy for him to play himself….

  13. Truesoldier__ on August 7th, 2012 4:04 pm

I still think that many a country blocked the VIsa application of Baldwin and would do the same for Penn. No way are they dumb enough to let those useless idiots into their countries on a permanent basis.

  14. SignPainterGuy on August 7th, 2012 4:20 pm

I`ve been trying, but I can`t recall a single movie he was in that I watched all the way through.
