    Waiting for Joe Biden to say something really stupid every day has replaced baseball as America's National Pastime.

    The temporary solution will have to do till the voters can enact a permanent one. Of course, Joe will probably think that "retire" means the taxpayers are buying him a set of recaps.

    "Picture currently unavailable" – there are 3 of Joe at IOTW; my fave is the squirtgun, then there`s Joe Houdini and finally, the evolution of a conehead, the cone-of-shame neck.

    Squirt-gun Joe is fun to play with during the heat and drought plaguing the nation and of course, the Carteresque malaise.
    Joe is permanently attached by chains to stupidity, so try as he may, there`s no escape.
    The cone of shame is really a waste of time; his statements haven`t embarrassed him; how`s an upside-down lamp shade gonna make a difference, other than also looking stupid, does that make him a complete package ?

    BWC, speaking or recaps, one of the indicators I thought the economic assessment of the New Normal was something of a misdirection on the part of the independent business community?

    It Americans truly thought it were the new normal, then why didn't everything from appliance repair shops to tire retreading facilities etc. spring up at a noteworthy rate? Has anyone TRIED getting something repaired over the last 4 years? I HAVE! It's a total pain.

    I see NO indication the biz comm. felt it was 'worth' re-tooling for that as Bammie was only a temporary impediment to commerce! Why run out and buy those curing tubes, tire molds and buffing machines when… things will be back in short order? Has anyone noticed a "resurgence' of fix-it type shops?

    "…resurgence… fix-it type 'shops' .." No; traveling Handi-Man 'trucks', Yes ! Some big-box stores, Sears in particular, always have and still do offer appliance repair, in-home or at their stores, but no, I don`t think anyone really felt the opportunity for starting up repair bizs worthwhile.

    Biden: What kind of spiel is that? She and my daughter died in a car accident! What kind of dirt bag does this?

    Obama: This is presidential politics, you know. It's not like I haven't done this before, plus, we need a smart, intelligent woman on the ticket that can make my point coherently, and can look good against Paul Ryan.

    Biden: You want me to resign, or are you kicking me off the ticket?

    Obama: I will personally lead Seal Team 6 to have you removed from the ticket. That's what I do. It makes me tuff. That's T U F F. Tuff.

    Biden: I understand, but I think it's spelled tuph. So, you convinced Hillary?

    Obama: NO! Bill wanted her, but I'm smarter than him. We're getting the bumper stickers printed up now… It's catchy:

    Biden breathes a sigh of relief…

    You'd have thought there'd have been a million little signs? Like CPA's and fin. planners consolidating offices.., radiator repair.. etc. It's like no one adjusted their business model one IOTA.

    It's as if, collectively, the biz comm. said to themselves; Either I'll weather this 'thing' or I WON'T. But whatever the outcome, I'm not changing a thing or jumping thru hoops to stay afloat! Worst come to worst, I'll get on the dole like everyone else!?

    It was like a high school football team where the quarterback is such an egotistical pr!ck, the whole team either overtly or subconsciously lets him get SACKED every down without lifting a finger! That was at the core of Bammie's "What's WRONG with businesses! Why are they so LAZY and why aren't they HIRING?" comments.

    Pizza delivery guys just announced that they will no longer deliver after dark in Detroit; will they be forced to go anyway ? Police escorts ? Will they be unionized so they can get double the pay and triple the tips ?

    Always the unique perspective, M_W. With little or no money anywhere (funemployment doesn`t cover a lot of extra purchases), what are bizs gonna morph / adjust into ? It doesn`t matter much what your shingle says, except maybe "FREE" !

    Just re-read your comment; new cars have disposable-ish radiators now, so not much call for radiator repair now days, just the older models w/ actual metal reservoirs. My little town lost both its rad. repair shops. My `98 p/u is on its 4th radiator.

    Hell, even web-based biz's trimmed the fat! Now.., I think there's a lot of well laid plans on the back BURNER? Just no motivation to roll them out just yet.

    It's like the whole world knows we only have enough left in the tank for (1) last best shot. And the whole world is "keeping their powder dry".

    Yup right here in the Detoilet!!! And SPG the pizza company is not going to deliver to Detroit – it is a very dangerous city!!! And the reports from this e-book that came out today is telling us that part of the Obama care package was to make sure that an addition 21 million people in the healthcare area be unionized under federal, state and local govts. programs. Well, guess what, we already have that in Michigan too!!

    And keep in mind that the union dues being subtracted from caregiver's Medicaid payments is taxpayer funded $$$ So everyone one of us is contributing to this union bunk. Makes me sick!!

    Over the weekend while weighing the Prog Agenda in general, Mrs. Will pointed out that, in the case of NPR's "Wait Don't Tell Me!" radio schtick about Mrs. Malkin, mocking her maiden name and a number of crude references about Filipinos in general, that, in essence, as a taxpayer HERSELF Michelle is subsidizing them/Progs to be insulted on national radio..!?

    Like wtf? As you point out ( loved to the running meter Confidential posted btw ) there are countless cases we can point to where Conservatives are forced to fund Oppressive's wet dreams. Agreed, it's just sickening.

    Has the pizza co. itself decided not to deliver to Detoilet PERIOD, or just at night ? The story I read just mentioned the drivers balking at night-time deliveries because of the mugging potential.
