Mitt Romney has finished his acceptance speech, and I’m trying to get the kids’ stuff packed up for a mid-morning departure for a couple days off the grid. Well, maybe not entirely off the grid. I’m bringing my laptop just in case Joe Biden says or does something incredibly stupid that I can’t avoid commenting on. But for the most part I’ll be taking it easy until Monday or Tuesday.

Romney’s speech aside, what did you think about Clint Eastwood’s “mystery guest” appearance? For me, it was so different, odd and unorthodox that I couldn’t help but appreciate it. “Invisible Obama” — either Clint’s losing his mind or he’s a genius at symbolism. My money’s on the latter:

Back Monday… Tuesday at the latest. Happy Labor Day weekend!

Doug, have a great weekend with your family ! If you get near sand and water, get some on ya ! Have tons-o-fun ! Thanks for the Convention coverage !

  2. SignPainterGuy on August 31st, 2012 1:54 am

Crint Eeswood and I believe in the same thing; we don`t need lawyers for Presidents ! Business men are so much more in tune with the needs of a country ! Besides, biz guys know what you can and can`t do with yourself ! ;-)

The invisible Obama is symbolic of his leadership and his likelihood of showing up for a serious Q&A !

    Thanks SPG!

Clint was good. I still wish it was Sarah, but I can understand why they wouldn't want her to speak.

Empty chair, empty suit, same ole, same ole…

I saw Roger Ebert calling it "sad", well, Roger, I know a good show when you don't like it.

I thought it was fun, quirky, and classy. Maybe that's why Roger doesn't like it.

Have a great one, Doug! Hope you and the family have a great time, and just think of the fun that will be had next week from Captain Classless and the Crew!

Do you feel lucky, punk…. Well do ya?

Loved it, Clint made my day.

    Check this out, it's a riot…one of my favorites…

7:30 — Chuck Todd Forced To Admit The Era of the Media Having An Impact Is Over

Fascinating moment just now on MSNBC. Race-baiter Chuck Todd explained to Maddow and Tweety McTingles why the Romney camp isn't worried or pushing back against the media's claims that Ryan told lies during his speech last night.

With a heavy heart, Todd explained that Team Romney has figured out that the media no longer has any kind of impact on public perception when it comes to fact-checking and the like. The public simply no longer trusts the media.

You could tell this news pretty much took the wind out of Todd. he looked a little dazed, very disappointed, and like a kid who just discovered his bike had been stolen.

No one can take your integrity away, Chuck, you can only give it away. And give it away you and your corrupt brethren did.

I live for the look I just saw in Chuck Todd's eyes. There's nothing like a reckoning. Keep up the great work, America!

I just heard this morning that Sen Patty Murray is going to speak at the DNC next week…lol

If she goes on either right before Biden or right after they could call the speeches Dumb and Dumber.

Speaking of fact checkers, I heard this morning that the WaPo fact checkers, fact checked Romney's claim that he could create 12 million jobs in his first term and they have declared that it is possible. You know that has to get under Obama's skin.

  17. SignPainterGuy on August 31st, 2012 1:38 pm

WaPo is one of the worst, most left leaning fishwraps in the country, but their fact-checkers are so good, they won`t allow their own fact-checkers to check the facts in their own stories !

Now is that delicious irony or wut !?

Obama had no plans to go near New Orleans, instead planning to go to Texas to fundraise … until Romney left the convention and went straightish to NoLa. Barry knew the Mittster would not only talk to folks, but get dirty actually helping. Oooo, bad optics for Teh One n Done !!

  23. Marshall_Will on August 31st, 2012 5:16 pm

    Awesome…

Maybe we can phone in and ask Her Porkness if she's since figured out what that FICA thing is..? I know Michelle would love to hear her take on it.

  24. Marshall_Will on August 31st, 2012 5:25 pm

    Patti,

And I should have read your addendum! Still a good read and I know the look. Kind of like James Carville's in "Old School".

Quite the discussion of Semantics Gone WILD! over at MM's. Actually it's part of an ongoing discussion over the last several days. Since most posters are just frustrated "writers" we know our way around paragraph structure and PITHY better than Dim truth-twisters will ever know!

I only regret it's taken so long for us to get on-message. In the sales env. I worked in for the last oh… 20+ years, if your script isn't working… get a new one. Pronto!

Who needs fact checkers! There's at least 12 mil. guys just like me that pulled the plug that first Tuesday in Nov. '08 REFUSING to fund this so-shuh-lists wet dreams.

In the past I was a hired gun salesman that took on various product rollouts on a commission basis. FAT commissions. Only recently have I accepted any 1099 positions. At THAT ( most of it won't pay out until there's been a change in leadership anyway! )

Sorry to do this to you, Dougie, but Biden has done it again. This time kissing a female Obama supporter ON THE LIPS in a restaurant: http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/biden-does-re

  28. SignPainterGuy on August 31st, 2012 8:22 pm

Yeah, his little boy mind and thin-skin won`t let him be an adult ; he`s afraid he`ll lose his chair if he gets up. Well GOOD, I`m likin` that kind of fear in his black heart !

Joe Bidenawfulous ! Joe Bite`emawfulous ! Aww, he`s just AWFUL ! So is George !

  29. SignPainterGuy on August 31st, 2012 8:28 pm

She "swooned" after the kiss and said, "We gotta keep the chair" referring to the "invisible chair". Typical of a leftist getting it wrong; it`s "EMPTY chair" dingbat !!

YES, by all means, let`s keep the democrat chair "invisible" OR "empty", I don`t care which ! Empty – they`re not in it; invisible – they probably can`t find it !

Bonus! Charlie Crist's DNC speech preview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embed

  31. SignPainterGuy on August 31st, 2012 8:35 pm

O/T but interesting. I`m watching a doc. ("Moon Machines" – Science Channel) on preps for the first Moon Flight and NASA`s attempts to get a digital computer on board the Lunar Module. One computer from the `60s compared to an mp-3 player from today worth $50.00; the mp-3 player has 50,000 times the storage capacity of the old jobber ! Fascinating ! (I think I heard that right)

  32. SignPainterGuy on August 31st, 2012 8:43 pm

Obviously those clips were from BEFORE CC abandoned the R party ! His last line, "People just want somebody to tell them the truth" (para). I didn`t know Charlie was auditioning for stand up comedy !?!

  33. backwoodsconsr on August 31st, 2012 8:53 pm

Next week's Democratic Convention will be comedy. They'll be doing self parody without even realizing it.

  34. SignPainterGuy on August 31st, 2012 9:15 pm

Reading around, I find myself wishing I`d watched C-SPAN LIVE. Many of the good speeches are posted / embedded here and there, but not all the ones I`d really like to see or read the transcripts of, like those who told of Romney`s and his Son`s selfless acts of service and kindness, stuff you`d NEVER believe Zero would EVER do ! And if he DID, unlike Mitt who`d rarely mention it, Zero would blab it on nat`l TV or have it published in another composite-autbiography !

  35. backwoodsconsr on August 31st, 2012 9:27 pm

I watched Fox the first night, went to C-Span thereafter. C-Span is definitely the way to go. You get all the speeches and no commercials.

Romney's campaign manager even brought up the story of the search for the missing 14 year old girl we discussed here recently.

  36. SignPainterGuy on August 31st, 2012 9:28 pm

Still in the NASA doc., making the space suits; there was a poo pouch and a pee pouch. The "pee" pouch attached by a condom-tube deal that was avail. in "small, medium and large". Of course, ALL the men insisted they needed the "large" one, so the project leader changed the names of the sizes to "large, gigantic and humongous". The "large" still worked ! ;-)

  37. SignPainterGuy on August 31st, 2012 9:49 pm

Seems a common theme; FOX first, disgusted with commentators, switched to C-SPAN and / or i`net feeds.

  38. backwoodsconsr on August 31st, 2012 9:51 pm

I just hope I still remember the lesson four years from now.

  39. backwoodsconsr on August 31st, 2012 9:57 pm

I just set a reminder on my Yahoo Calendar for July 2016. Now I won't forget.

  40. SignPainterGuy on August 31st, 2012 9:59 pm

That it will, that THEY will ! As an added comedy feature, the DNC planners were watching the RNC and witnessing the obvious successes, added some speakers n stuff to make it more entertaining. We`ll see !

  41. SignPainterGuy on August 31st, 2012 10:13 pm

    What, you`re NOT gonna be a delegate ? ;-)

  42. SignPainterGuy on August 31st, 2012 10:15 pm

Does the Yahoo Calendar NOT take into account the end-of-the-world prediction of the Mayan Calendar ?

  43. backwoodsconsr on August 31st, 2012 11:52 pm

No, they're not the yahoos that made that prediction.

  44. SignPainterGuy on September 1st, 2012 12:23 am

    Whew ! That`s a relief !

In late `99, I got a call at my shop, a survey asking if I was worried about the Y2K bomb, what preparations I had taken to prevent any damage from possible virus infections (no, they made no differential as to body or computer "virus").

I told them that I believed it to be mostly a hoax, that I had no date-dependent equipment, that I could read and write, do long math and draw by hand. Their silence after that told me I hadn`t played along to their expectations ! Heh !

  45. jeffythequick on September 1st, 2012 3:21 pm

    Crint Easwood?

Was that you I saw on http://www.engrish.com?

  48. mcmeador on September 1st, 2012 7:55 pm

I liked his "intellect of the Democratic Party joke about Biden. It's pretty genius. There's no way for Biden or the Democratic Party to respond to it and come out on top.

  49. SignPainterGuy on September 1st, 2012 8:39 pm

(slipping on hip-waders, clipping on clothes pin on nose) Nonh, whynh ?

  50. backwoodsconsr on September 1st, 2012 8:51 pm

I just thought maybe you could tell me about the violins on TV or the flea erections in China.

But, if you're no kin to her, never mind. :)

  51. Marshall_Will on September 1st, 2012 11:00 pm

Good point. If they DO acknowledge that IS in fact the case ( then it's an open admition they're in real trouble! )

If they do what would be proper in Sheriff Joe's case and simply admit he's in advanced delusional "blue collar" alcoholic psychosis..? Too many taxpayer-funded waitress sandwiches w/ Chris Dodd huh SloJoe! Then again, that type of phrasing and Clint's on-screen persona have gone hand in hand for decades.

The scene in The Good, the Bad & The Ugly where he explains to Eli Wallach there's nothing WRITTEN on the stone comes to mind. Sergio Leone was pure brilliance on that stand-off scene. If I could live inside a spaghetti western ( I would… )

  52. SignPainterGuy on September 2nd, 2012 11:40 am

Wouldn`t it be great to show Zero and his marxist-ilk and DC just how resoundingly we reject their crap !?

  53. backwoodsconsr on September 2nd, 2012 11:55 am

It ain't red enough. There's a blue blemish that needs to be gotten rid of.

  54. SignPainterGuy on September 2nd, 2012 12:39 pm

That blemish is the DC Gang that will have just been voted out !

Hoping, Praying, crossing my fingers n toes; I`d cross my hair, but that`d be too weird, right ?

  55. backwoodsconsr on September 2nd, 2012 12:42 pm

Just don't cross Clint Eastwood. It might be dangerous.

There's a children's song that tells a story of a wise man and a foolish man, the wise man build his house upon a rock, when the rains and floods come, the house on the rock stands.

The foolish man builds his house upon the sand, and when the rains and the floods come, the house washes away…

A: Someone ran out of sand !

In this case, it`s the un-barred lawyer, Zero, MADE of sand, but wind and rain washed away only parts of him.

    Q: What happened ?
A: The wind and rain ended too soon !

The one in my yard will remain there until after the election or until somebody steals it, whichever comes first.

  64. SignPainterGuy on September 3rd, 2012 2:31 pm

It`s raining here, so the old office chair is hiding on the porch. I need to dig out that "Old n Busted" coated-wire lawn chair from the basement; it can stand the rain and won`t be missed if it IS stolen ! (Who`d want it ?)

Paul Harvey told of a lady who had an old rusted, busted galvanized steel trash can she wanted to throw away. Despite labeling it AS trash, putting it INSIDE trash bags, crushing and folding it and hiding it in the trash, the garbage collectors just straightened it out and placed it back on her sidewalk. She got the bright idea of spray-painting it metallic gold and painting vines and flowers on it.

    Someone stole it ! :-)

  65. Patti on September 3rd, 2012 3:42 pm

"National Empty Chair Day seems to be a resounding success !"

We have an empty chair *in* our house, too….

My husband woke me Saturday morning, having trouble breathing, called 911 got him to hospital very quickly, they did all they could do, he didn't make it.

Needless to say, my family and I are stunned…I would appreciate prayers to help get us through this difficult time.

  66. backwoodsconsr on September 3rd, 2012 4:51 pm

So sorry to hear of your loss. I'm not a praying man, but you're definitely in my thoughts.

  71. Doug on September 3rd, 2012 11:47 pm

That's a good one. I got caught up doing other things today, but I wanted to go out to the golf course and take a picture of an empty chair on the 18th green… maybe with a can of peas and an ice cream cone next to it

  72. SignPainterGuy on September 4th, 2012 12:23 am

THAT would have been as good as any I`ve seen; you should do it, even if you have to set it up in your own yard. BTW, is vacation over already ? Hope all was fun n games !

One of my other faves was a wooden chair, a pink golf bag and a pink-headed driver – to go along with the "glistening pecks" n stuff I guess ! Ah ha ha haa !
