Surprise! Unemployment Dips Below 8 Percent a Month Before the Election

As predictable as the sun coming up in the east and Joe Biden saying something stupid:

Overall the economy is what it’s been for months and months: anemic.

Read the BLS report. They sure “found” a hell of a lot of jobs. Then there are the 600,000 people who had to take on part time work for economic reasons:

The number of persons employed part time for economic reasons (sometimes referred to as involuntary part-time workers) rose from 8.0 million in August to 8.6 million in September. These individuals were working part time because their hours had been cut back or because they were unable to find a full-time job.

This isn’t a signal of an economic turnaround (the real unemployment rate — free from the politically-influenced messaging of the numbers — is almost 15 percent). But getting that number below 8 percent was the goal. Everybody knew it was coming, and damned if the BLS didn’t find a way to do it.

After the election, don’t be surprised when these numbers are revised downward big time.

    Because, saying 7.9% would have made it perhaps a bit 'too' obvious. It just has to jibe w/ teh quan's whistle stop "Jobs ARE coming back ( thumbs up/this is my serious face ) and the 'investments' we've made are paying off!" meme.

    I listened to Biden`s speech in Asheville (on radio), the same speech he gave in Charlotte minus the "buried middle-class" part, and lost 30 IQ points, but I`m still not stupid enough to believe that the Unemployment Rate is as low as 7.8% ! I`m still stickin` with the 18+% rate; E6 + common sense.

    I'm guessing about November 7th or so the number will be (unexpectedly) revised upward by about 0.5%.

    OR, I turned a corner and saw some guys installing new traffic lights at an intersection. Therefore, I 'found' work.
