Retired Adm. James A. Lyons, who was commander in chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, wrote an op-ed about the Benghazi attack that appeared in the Washington Times. It’s pretty condemning. Here’s a portion:

The Obama national security team, including CIA, DNI, State Department and the Pentagon, watched and listened to the assault but did nothing to answer repeated calls for assistance. It has been reported that President Obama met with Vice President Joseph R. Biden and Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta in the Oval Office, presumably to see what support could be provided. After all, we had very credible military resources within striking distance. At our military base in Sigonella, Sicily, which is slightly over 400 miles from Benghazi, we had a fully equipped Special Forces unit with both transport and jet strike aircraft prepositioned. Certainly this was a force much more capable than the 22-man force from our embassy in Tripoli.

I know those Special Forces personnel were ready to leap at the opportunity. There is no doubt in my mind they would have wiped out the terrorists attackers. Also I have no doubt that Admiral William McRaven, Commander of U.S. Special Operations Command, would have had his local commander at Sigonella ready to launch; however, apparently he was countermanded—by whom? We need to know.

I also understand we had a C-130 gunship available, which would have quickly disposed of the terrorist attackers. This attack went on for seven hours. Our fighter jets could have been at our Benghazi mission within an hour. Our Special Forces out of Sigonella could have been there within a few hours. There is not any doubt that action on our part could have saved the lives of our two former Navy SEALs and possibly the ambassador.

Having been in a number of similar situations, I know you have to have the courage to do what’s right and take immediate action. Obviously, that courage was lacking for Benghazi. The safety of your personnel always remains paramount. With all the technology and military capability we had in theater, for our leadership to have deliberately ignored the pleas for assistance is not only in incomprehensible, it is un-American.

Ouch.

Obama`s mission was to show that the arab spring was successful in bringing democracy and peace and stability to the region; to show that the muslims were good guys. To have called in air support which would have fired on and killed many muslims would have ruined his plans and the false image and further enraged the already enraged muslims. Preventing that eventuality was worth more than a few American lives …….. to the Traitor-in-Chief !

By gum.., I believe you've NAILED it Sir!

Calling in, as the Admiral suggested, a C-130 gunship, dispensing terrorists in tidy "body count ready!" rows would have undone his home-stretch narrative. Sadly for the victims, Teh Wun put His re-election bid above all else.

All when political historians ( and the guy at the end of the bar ) will have surmised his chances were NIL as far back as the 2010 mid's.

The chain of command must be maintained, but as a human being, how does one obey an order when they know the outcome will be the death of the people requesting the help?

Glenn had it right (and I was thinking it along the same lines before his show today):
When the president ordered Seal Team 6 to take out Osama, they complied.
When two Seals needed the president, he left them to die.

Here`s a prime example of "whatever a dem and especially Obama says is the opposite of the truth" ! The actions / in-actions taken by the Traitor-in-Chief, his spokes-critters, the LSM during and after the Benghazi attacks and even now during Hurricane / Mega-Storm Sandy ARE political; to them EVERYTHING is political !

Exactly. Obama/Biden have been running around the country telling everyone that Bin Laden is dead and AQ is not getting up from the count. To have an AQ attack on the anniversary of 9/11 would mean to admit they were wrong. That just cannot happen that close to an election in their books. So like always, the "underlings" are expendable for the greater good in Obama's re-election bid.

Another thing that gets me is Pennata’s statment that we did not have enough info to send forces in. Please, if that were the case I would have never gone on a single mission in Iraq. The most common thing we heard during our mission briefs were, “Strength of enemy in area of operations is unknown”. You may go out and not have one shot fired at you or you may round a corner into an IED ambush complete with RPG’s being fired at you and cross covering machine gun fire. You just never knew what to expect, so you expected the worse.

It would be nice if you knew how many and the exact locations of every enemy along your mission route, but that only happens in Hollywood movies.

"Krauthammer: Obama “playing president” for Sandy, not Benghazi."

Yep, he cancels his campaigning for a hurricane but not for the death of four Americans at the hands of AQ. Of course the hurricane should have never happened in the first place, because Obama was going to heal the planet and the ocean waters were going to recede (tell that to the residents in NJ).

O/T…When is the Secret Service going to have a talk with Michael Moore and Moveon.org?

Here is part of the commercail airing on the Moveon.org site:

“I was born in 1915 during World War I. My first vote was in 1940 for Franklin D. Roosevelt and I have not missed an election since,” says 97-year-old Marie, in the video. “And I want the Republican Party to know, if your voter suppression throughout this beautiful country enables Romney to oust Barack Obama we will burn this motherfucker down. ”

“If the Republicans steal this election, I am going to track down Mitt Romney and give him the world’s biggest cock-punch…What’s the matter sonny, ain’t you never heard that phrase, cock-punch?”

“Right in the nutsack,” she adds.

So they are making threats against the US and Romney.

"You just never knew what to expect, so you expected the worse."

And I'm willing to bet the C.O/squad leader never said; "It'll probably be 'cool' so weapons will be 'optional' on this one"?

  11. Marshall_Will on October 30th, 2012 4:09 pm

“If you let the Republicans do this to you again, after we die, we are going to look down on you from Heaven and we’re going to make a point of watching you have sex, every time,” John says. “No matter how kinky.”

Knock yer'selves out! When it comes to how you treat your spouse, maybe we SHOULD act as if our deceased parents can remotely view us!

We're Conservatives so you won't find anything worth posting on HeavenTube. Sorry to disappoint, no midgets in masks or barnyard critters. Check in on Bubba though, he's -always- got a freak thang goin'.

I`m curious about something. We know that Obama supplied weapons to rebel groups in the ME and the two Former Seals were tasked with finding as many of those weapons as possible and trying to buy them back. We know that jihadis were celebrating the anniversary of 9-11 by attacking American Installations. My question is; were they most pissed about Obama supplying the weapons in the first place……. or the mission to take them back ?

  13. SignPainterGuy on October 30th, 2012 7:46 pm

Pppffffft …… it`s ONLY the Tea Party bastages that are of concern to security……… they spit on Nasty Pelousi, remember ? She said so !

You didn't go anywhere without a weapon. You went to chow, you had a weapon. You went to the crapper, you had a weapon. You went to bed, you had your weapon within reach.
