According to CBS’s Mark Knoller, Obama hasn’t had held a formal press conference since before last season’s NCAA tournament began. But even though the administration might believe it’s way too soon to have another, they’re doing it anyway:

U.S. President Barack Obama will hold a news conference at 1:30 p.m. EST (1830 GMT) on Wednesday, the White House said on Tuesday.

The press conference will be Obama’s first since winning re-election last week. The White House had not previously announced the timing of the event.

Laugh line of the day comes from Politico: Hard questions await Obama at news conference

“Mr. President, a three-pronged question if I may… How’s Bo doing? How marvelous do I think you look? And as a follow-up… what do you think of the new layout of the back nine of the South Course at Andrews?”

Drinking game rules for today’s presser: Do a shot whenever you hear “protocols,” “balanced approach,” and any variation of “until all the facts are known.” Double shot if Obama blames all our problems on the previous administration. See y’all in rehab.

With so much happening that pRes. Double Downgrade should answer for, I look for a scolding about the sexcapades going on, how he and Mooch have never cheated on each other, name a couple replacements to high posts and then answer those tough questions on how awesome he is !

Predictions (and we saw last Monday how good those are…)

On Benghazi: We have an ongoing investigation to find out what I did, and why I did it.
On Petraeus: We have an ongoing investigation to find out what/who he did and why he did it/her.
On the fiscal cliff: We have ongoing investigations, and we're not going to comment on it.
Oh the economy: We are trying to figure out what an economy is, and what it is supposed to do.

"The White House had not previously announced the timing of the event."

My take on this press conference and the timing are as follows.

It could go one of two ways.

    1) Obama plans to talk about the scandal and how Gen Petraeus has no honor; therefore he lacks any credibility and his testimony this Friday should be utterly disregarded by the press.

    2) Obama will talk a little about the Petraeus scandal, but then will bring up that he expects Petraeus' testimony on Friday will vindicate the Obama administration.

In other words, this is either a damage control press conference aimed at discredititing Petraeus before his testimony on Friday or it is a warning to Petraeus to toe the line that the FBI release of the scandal was just the begining if he makes Obama look bad on Friday. In either case, it explains the hastily announced press conference.

O/T; Sorry Doug, but this is really interesting !

As of this morning, there are 69 petitions for secession covering ALL 50 states with over 675,000 signatures. 7 states have reached the 25,000 signature mark for the WH to review the petitions and give a response.

Something tells me a whole bunch o people are gettin` really undisregustified with the state of our federal gubmit !!

I suspect it will be a combination of the two; a rebirth of the "Gen. Betrayus" meme, and a warning to him to toe the admin`s line !

  6. SignPainterGuy on November 14th, 2012 1:37 pm

"Oh the economy: We are trying to figure out what an economy is, and what it is supposed to do."

That sums up the Presidunce and his crew; they obviously DON`T KNOW ! (other than a tool to use against the populus)

At least one memebr of Congress sees this whole thing for what it is:

“On the one hand – specific to Libya – the administration said they wouldn’t release any information until an investigation is conducted. But, then, for their own political convenience, they have personally given out tidbits of information without the American public being able to see the full picture,” Chaffetz said.

I was going to put a petition in, stating:

We petition the Federal Government to:

    1. Live within it's means, meaning no more deficit spending.
    2. Pay off the debt.
    3. Only pass laws pertaining to Article I, Section 8 of the US Constitution.
    4. Stop issuing Executive Orders to do an end-around Congress.
    5. Know that an amendment to the US Constitution supersedes the original document, so that the 10th Amendment supersedes the body of the US Constitution.

I think that should quell the secession talks.

  9. Truesoldier__ on November 14th, 2012 2:19 pm

Or put you in the top 10 of the Obama most wanted list.

  10. Truesoldier__ on November 14th, 2012 2:24 pm

O/T…US General demoted over extravegent trips.
    http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/general-

So when is Michelle Obama going to get "demoted" for all her extravegent trips?

  11. Truesoldier__ on November 14th, 2012 2:26 pm

Well I see that part of the presser will be on the "fiscal cliff" and, surprise surprise, Obama wants $1.6 trillion in tax increases.

  12. jeffythequick on November 14th, 2012 2:37 pm

Yeah… listening to Glenn saying the same thing.

    Excellent point.

  13. jeffythequick on November 14th, 2012 2:38 pm

She's married to PBo. How much lower can she go?

  14. SignPainterGuy on November 14th, 2012 2:40 pm

So, is this a misdemeanor, a high crime or evidence pointing to treason from the top down ?!

  15. SignPainterGuy on November 14th, 2012 2:41 pm

How can he get $1.6 T in tax increases without increasing taxes on EVERYBODY, regardless of income level ?

  16. Truesoldier__ on November 14th, 2012 3:02 pm

Hit them with all of the above in my opinion.

  17. backwoodsconsr on November 14th, 2012 3:22 pm

Add the word "investments" to the drinking game.

  18. Truesoldier__ on November 14th, 2012 3:24 pm

Like every tax that was "just on the rich" it will morph into a tax on everyone in no time fast.

  19. jeffythequick on November 14th, 2012 3:33 pm

Well, since our poor live extravagant lives compared with the rest of the poor in the world. (aside, I've seen things that have made me cry, like 7 year old girls begging me for money in less developed countries, and the gratitude on their faces when I buy them a meal for them and their family at a McD's)

We're all rich in this country.

  20. jeffythequick on November 14th, 2012 3:38 pm

O/T: Since those in the womb can't feel pain, and those in comas can't make decisions for themselves, this is interesting…

    "top 10 of the…"

Let's see.., the avg. petition backer HAS:

Lost his/her business and/or seen marked decline in revenues.
Effectively lost executive control over their company or enterprise
    Faces ever escalating EPA/Gov. scrutiny
Facing all but certain spiraling levels of taxation
Essentially lost their voice in government
Has creditors hounding them night and day

Yeah, we're all 'worried sick' about making Obamarcos' hit list..!

  22. SignPainterGuy on November 14th, 2012 3:46 pm

Now THAT`s a sobering thought ! We really are, relatively speaking, and bless you for your generosity !

  23. SignPainterGuy on November 14th, 2012 3:47 pm

Yeah, I DID notice that Zero has grabbed onto the Clinton code word for raised taxes !

  24. jeffythequick on November 14th, 2012 3:53 pm

It is heartbreaking, and thinking about my 7 year old daughter is what brought me to tears.

  25. Marshall_Will on November 14th, 2012 3:56 pm

A few notes from last night's Marion County GOP… wake.

As universally predicted, our State Chair was thrown under the bus and won't be coming up for air any time soon. More on that betrayal later.

Through an unbelievably diligent effort, we managed an 86.7% GOP voter turnout, and went Red. Outside of Multnomah and Lane, we are within easy striking distance.

Personal note: After making calls to ensure GOP voters GOT their ballot, multiple follow up calls, personal visits and door hanger campaigns STILL only got us to 86.7%. Given people MOVE, become ill or incapacitated, are out of town or deceased, it makes total FOLLY of Dim "100%..!" turnouts. The larger the group, the more unattainable that number.

  26. backwoodsconsr on November 14th, 2012 4:15 pm

Actually it's a code word for more of the government spending he keeps promising to cut. It allows him to say "increase spending" in the same sentence as "cut spending" without actually saying "increase spending".

It also means more failed green energy projects.

  27. SignPainterGuy on November 14th, 2012 4:19 pm

Yes, I should have made it "increased taxing and spending on ever increasing #s of gov. programs".

  28. SignPainterGuy on November 14th, 2012 4:23 pm

I don`t even buy it in all-black districts. They can`t ALL be brainwashed !

  29. Marshall_Will on November 14th, 2012 4:31 pm

"It also means more failed green energy projects."

    Try pre-failed.

More blurred definitions from Dim's. There's nothing WRONG for wealthier investors to take say 5% of their liquid net worth and… throw it at a longshot alternative energy company, or Hail Mary bio-tech 'potential' FDA approval?

It's THEIR money! Where the blurring enters, this isn't "investment". It's called SPECULATION! And unlike ongoing concerns w/ quantifiable track records of performance… these are referred to as "binary situations". Either you'll hit it big ( Microsoft etc. ) or more likely, you'll walk away a LOSER with no varying degrees in between.

  30. backwoodsconsr on November 14th, 2012 4:40 pm

    Perzactly.

  31. Marshall_Will on November 14th, 2012 5:25 pm

    And likely, they're NOT..!

Great post yesterday from madshark in Madera Cali. I've actually been there and it was typically where 'I' ( not the car ) ran out of gas enroute to Vegas. He noted over 2/3rds there voted Romney and they're an almost entirely Hispanic community! Along w/ other startling, stereotype defying observations.

What I 'believe' has been happening in Portland is Dim's are "re-voting" and bulk filling out ballots from the most recent crop of PDX departures. Many disenfranchised Midwestern youths FLOCK to Portland to "be part of the scene". In their minds I'm sure reminiscent of 20-somethings visualization of "Haight & Ashbury" ( Summer of Love etc. )

Then realizing it's DAMNED difficult to land anything above barista and PACK. But still their ballots are sent in Dim.

No kidding. While in Iraq I remember a time we came across a small farm on our way up from Kuwait to Baghdad in 2004. The family all lived in this one room mud hut, they had some chickens and not much else. That night they slaughtered one of the chickens and roasted it and shared it with us (remember this is a family that had nothing). We were so awestruck by their genorosity. Before we left in the morning we left them with 3 cases of MRE's and 30 gallons of water. They were in tears over it and told us (through our interpreter) that what we just gave them would provide for them for months.

  33. Truesoldier__ on November 14th, 2012 5:56 pm

So how many times did he say "let me be clear"? That is usually the one that gets you drunk beyond belief during an Obama bloviation..

  34. SignPainterGuy on November 14th, 2012 8:44 pm

"Pre-failed" is right, and my main objection after that is, it`s a loss of choice. Someone else is making all the choices / decisions and they don`t care about the results, just who gets the "investments", because it`s OPM !

  35. SignPainterGuy on November 14th, 2012 8:52 pm

A friend of mine hitch hiked to CA in `71-ish and came right back home. It was for him a place to get in real trouble. Then in the early `80s he took his Wife and toddler Son to Wyoming, thinking he`d make it big in the horse industry (horse tack, gun and hunting leather goods). He realized that you needed two things there; to have taken a fortune with you and any employment benefit agreements you make, should be in writing !

"We are trying to figure out what an economy is, and what it is supposed to do."

I am so going to steal that.

  37. jeffythequick on November 15th, 2012 11:25 am

I think that 100% is the minimum turnout for the D Districts.
