According to Piers Morgan, There are Only 2 Uses for ‘Assault Rifles’: To Commit Mass Murder, and to Protect Piers Morgan

CNN’s Piers Morgan, big time gun control advocate, broadcast a show from Texas to figure out why people like guns so much.

Morgan has asked in the past “why does anybody need to own an assault rifle?” He’s also said the only people who own weapons like the AR-15 are those who want to commit mass murder. But apparently there are allowable exceptions, such as when those weapons are used to protect Piers Morgan, as was the case outside a gun store where Morgan was taping (one guard at the end says he’s employed by CNN):

Of course CNN employs armed guards. Somebody has to protect all those anti-gun hosts.

However, according to multiple sources, the armed men were actually British agents under secret orders to take Morgan out if he were to try to go back to England.

Fran Tarkenton Provides Obama with Concrete Evidence That Head Trauma is Clouding the Judgment of Some Former NFL Players

President Obama may well view this column by the former Minnesota Vikings quarterback as proof-positive that the head injuries suffered by football players have totally clouded their thought process and something must be done before it’s too late:

Pro golfer Phil Mickelson has gotten a lot of flak for his recent comments about threatening to make “drastic changes” in his life due to state and federal tax increases. Never mind that he later backed off, saying he should have kept his thoughts to himself and apologized to those he “upset or insulted.”

Mickelson was telling the truth. If there’s anything that should upset or insult Americans, it’s just how much of their money the government takes. Mickelson estimates that more than 60% of his earnings are snatched in federal and state taxes (he lives in California). Should a private citizen, no matter how successful, really owe the government more than half of what he or she makes? Intuitively, this cannot make sense to anyone who believes in the principles of hard work and personal responsibility.

Tarkenton obviously suffered too many blows to the head during his playing days. Don’t worry — Congress will be on it very soon. Hold tight, Fran, help is on the way!

Many Democrats believe trauma caused by repeated blows to the head may have caused Fran Tarkenton to suffer delusions of over-taxation

Ahmadinejad in SPAAAAACE!

I have to admit, this would be totally awesome. Too bad he’s lying his ass off:

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday he was ready to be the first human sent into orbit by Iran’s fledgling space program, Iranian media reported.

Iran declared last week that it had successfully launched a monkey into space and retrieved it alive, which officials hailed as a major step towards their goal of sending humans into space.

The launch added to Western concerns about Iran’s space program because the same rocket technology could potentially be used to deliver a nuclear warhead on a ballistic missile.

“I am ready to be the first human to be sent to space by Iranian scientists,” Ahmadinejad said on Monday, on the sidelines of an exhibition of space achievements in Tehran, according to the Mehr news agency.

In the spirit of global harmony, I’m sure we could even convince Bibi Netanyahu to light the candle.

Word is that Ahmadinejad wants to film the entire adventure for a movie called “The Anti-Semite Stuff.”

Mini-Hitler’s launch is expected to go something like this:

Reminder: The U.S. Federal Income Tax Turns 100 Today

Not to drag everybody down on Super Sunday, but today also marks another occasion: The 100th anniversary of the implementation of the U.S. federal income tax:

On February 3rd, 1913, one of the two most historic events in US history took place: the ratification of the 16th amendment, which established Congress’ right to impose a Federal income tax on Americans, and overturned Article I, Section 9 of the US Constitution which explicitly prohibited a general income tax. The amendment was brief and to the point, and read as follows: “The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.” And with that, the US Federal Income Tax was born and has been with us for precisely 100 years.

Much more at Zero Hedge.

It’s hard to imagine that, for many years, this country was run on very limited funds. Up until the early 1800s, the government was run purely on internal sales taxes and revenue from a gigantic powdered wig closeout sale. Then, in 1817, the government got rid of internal taxes and functioned completely on tariffs on imported goods.

Can you imagine running the bloated monster of a federal government we have today solely on the four percent we’d get from taxes imposed on imports of running shoes and plastic novelty poop?

During the Civil War the “Revenue Act” was passed to raise money for the war, but that was repealed within a decade. But I imagine by then the sharks had already had a taste of that blood, so the income tax was reinstated in 1913:

The incomes of couples exceeding $4,000, as well as those of single persons earning $3,000 or more, were subject to a one percent federal tax. Further, the measure provided a progressive tax structure, meaning that high income earners were required to pay at higher rates.

It would require only a few years for the federal income tax to become the chief source of income for the government, far outdistancing tariff revenues.

By the way, here’s the alternate headline for this post: “U.S. Federal Income Tax Celebrates 100th Anniversary; Willie Nelson and Wesley Snipes Refuse to Buy it a Gift”

Obama’s First Term: Massive Labor Force Shrinkage

Question to ponder over the weekend: What would Barack Obama had to have done in order to not be re-elected? Maybe we don’t want to know the answer.

From Noel Sheppard at Newsbusters:

The Bureau of Labor Statistics released jobs numbers for January Friday showing that nonfarm payroll employment increased by 157,000 and the unemployment rate rose to 7.9 percent.

Lost in these headline numbers was another rise in the number of people not in the labor force.

This number now stands at a staggering 89 million, up from 80.5 million when President Obama took office.

This means that there are currently 8.5 million more Americans not in the labor force than just four years ago.

To put it in economic terms, the labor force is your johnson and the Obama administration is an Olympic sized pool full of cold water.

In Obama’s first term, the size of the US workforce shrunk by more than the entire populations of Wyoming, Washington DC, Vermont, North Dakota, Alaska, South Dakota, Delaware, Montana, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine.

And of course with a shrinking labor force comes a shrinking tax base — a difference that the Dems laughingly want everybody to believe can be made up by making those at the top of the income chart pay their “fair share” while reckless spending continues.

So what happens when the size of the workforce undergoes a massive drop? The unemployment rate goes up — unless those people can be allowed to easily slip out of the workforce and not be counted as unemployed. That’s why the government actually encourages and recruits people to go on public assistance, because the more people who give up looking for work, the fewer are counted in unemployment statistics.

In some states, such as Maine, the number of welfare recipients are greater than the number of taxpayers. The left loves the word “sustainability” when it refers to the environment, but they don’t give a damn about it as far as economic health is concerned.

Will Al Sharpton Help Tawana Brawley Pay This Court Order?

Al Sharpton just clears his throat and slowly backs away

Infamous hoaxster Tawana Brawley — whose outrageous rape lie 25 years ago inflamed racial tensions nationwide — yesterday was finally slapped with a court order to settle a hefty defamation case against her.

“For at least 25 years, she has been living a major lie,” said former Dutchess County prosecutor Steven Pagones, who was falsely accused of raping Brawley in 1987 and finally tracked her down, thanks to The Post.

“To me, this has always been about responsibility and accountability,’’ added the former ADA, who won the $190,000 defamation lawsuit against Brawley, 40, now a nurse in Virginia, more than a decade ago.

At 9 percent interest, that debt, which Brawley never attempted to pay off, now totals $431,492, according to the wage-garnishment papers filed in Virginia’s Surry County Court.

Shouldn’t Sharpton feel compelled to help Brawley, as Al might say, “pay we much”? After all, he was the one who was most public in perpetuating the lie (he’s good at things like that). Sharpton could pay off Brawley’s court ordered payment with just a fraction of the money he’s saved dodging taxes, but don’t hold your breath.
